A couple of week of eats

These eats are from the past couple of weeks or so when my schedule was a bit odd and I was on one day/off the next/on again at work and then I was in reset mode. We had a good combination of eating in and out. Mind you, this is not all the food I ate, but it is all the food I took pictures of ๐Ÿ™‚

After Yard House I was craving lettuce wraps and so lettuce wraps I made! These were so good and satisfying!!

We ended up trying a new Mediterranean spot called Zait Bistro and got some wraps. I really enjoyed these wraps and found them to be flavorful and filling. We ate some leftover peppers, carrots, and tomatoes with this to amp up the micronutrients!

I’ve been enjoying the Benevolent Bacon and have been making quite few BLTA’s. If you’re looking for some added heartiness and crunch in your sandwich…would recommend! Also, those pink things are pickled turnips and boy are they so good…they add such a good zing to anything.

After moving to San Bernardino and having a Blaze so close by I’ve reconnected with my love for it. Their crust is so good and it’s so fun to personalize your own pizza. They have so many spots that do this now, but Blaze is still my favorite!

I still love these Denny’s sizzling skillets-this one is the egg white version, but I opted for the whole scrambled egg. It’s filled with broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes, potatoes, and spinach. Give some Cholula to throw on top and I am one happy gal ๐Ÿ™‚

We are still (trying) going strong with having salmon once a week and this dish was fantastic! I cut up some Brussels and pan sauteed them, roasted up some carrots and called it a meal! It was so warm and satisfying.

Speaking of Brussels, (I don’t know why, but I crave Brussels once the cold weather hits) I took some toasted sourdough, slathered on some vegan pesto, sauteed some Brussels and scramble an egg for this delicious looking toast! It really hit the spot especially after the addition of chili flakes ๐Ÿ˜€

Those are my eats from a couple of weeks, but I’m curious what’s on your menu?

Meatless Wednesday

We hadn’t been to Veggie Grill in a minute, but we stopped in to try the spring menu and went a little gaga over how yummy it was!

After the many fried chicken sandwiches how could we not try their version of the Nashville hot chicken sandwich? Between two sesame buns was the chickin’ patty, Nashville hot sauce, cole slaw, charred scallion ranch, and bread and butter pickles.

This was not that spicy, but flavorful. I loved the crisp factor! I would give this a 5/5!

We also got the Wunderbrat which is a bratwurst from Beyond Meat. It had good snap and flavor! I would get this over a real hot dog any day! It came with a side of cabbage, spicy mustard, and cheese sauce. We added the cabbage and spicy mustard (plus ketchup), but neither of us were fans of the cheese sauce. Shmurp!

I would also give this a 5/5 ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you tried Veggie Grill’s spring menu?

The day a donut was my friend

If you read my last vegan lunch post then you knew that this donut place is where it all started. Also, I can’t pick which way to spell donut/doughnut so I’m just going to go with whatever feels right at the moment!

Donut Friend has been on my list of places to check out and I am happy to say that we finally made it. The donuts here are vegan (I do believe) and they are delicious (trust me, I tasted them).

The whole concept is that you pick a donut and can add fillings, glazes, toppings, etc to make your donut creation.

They have pre-made ones that you can pick from if you want to try a tested and true flavor combo. They have delicious eat on their own good donuts as well!

We made our own and got a creme brรปlรฉe and blueberry cake donut to round it all out.

The BYO creation ended up being glazed donut with Nutella filling, vanilla glaze, and topped with pretzels. It was sticky and sweet and there was glaze and Nutella everywhere!

The blueberry cake was okay and a tad dry, but the flavor was delicious. I think this would go awesome with some almond milk.

The creme brรปlรฉe was a yeast donut with a nice crunchy top and creamy center. The textures alone made this one of my faves.

Our top pick was definitely the BYO. It was just so good and we put all our favorite things in it so…I mean, there was no going wrong.

If you were building your own donut what would you put in it?! I’m always curious about these types of things. Let me know in the comments below!

A Vegan Lunch

It may be hard to tell from my posts, but when at home I tend to eat vegetarian for the most part. I enjoy eating lots of veggies and I find that my body does pretty well on it ๐Ÿ™‚ย We also enjoy our fish and burgers (as you may know if you’ve been reading my posts), but I think it’s all about balance.

All of this to say that I may have stumbled upon one of the best vegan joints I have ever been to.

Let me start from the beginning…like every good story, this one starts with doughnuts. There has been this vegan doughnut place I have been wanting to try and so we set out to do just that, but we also wanted to grab some lunch.

We came across a place on Yelp called Organix. It’s a little vegan grocery store/vegan restaurant (kombucha shot for overtime I say vegan?). It has 3 wooden picnic type tables and benches to sit down and eat (you order at the register).

We ended up wanting everything on the menu, but went with the Chicken Bacon Ranch, Jesse’s Taco, and the Barbacoa Taco.

We also ended up getting some vegan jerky to try out while we waited. The flavor was like jerky, but the texture was very soft-the hubs seemed to like it.

Now on to the rest of the food ( insert all of the heart eye emojis here)

The CBR had vegan chicken, coconut bacon, vegan ranch, grilled onions, lettuce and tomato on sourdough.

And a side shot so you can see all the yummy vegan layers (and yes, I did put the word vegan in there so you would take a shot ๐Ÿ˜€ )

The Jesse’s Taco was a corn tortilla filled with mushrooms, grilled onions, bell pepper, cabbage, salsa, and chipotle aioli.

Jesse’s on the left and barbacoa on the right

The Barbacoa (my fave) was slow cooked shredded jack fruit, cabbage, crema and pico also on a corn tortilla.

The food was incredible…I only wish we lived closer! That’s all for this post, but that doughnut post will be coming soon so keep an eye out ๐Ÿ˜€
