Life After NY

We woke up dark and early to catch a Lyft to JFK. Speaking of JFK, what a great airport! I don’t know if it was the time or day of the week that we were there or what, but it was so mellow and there was barely a line-very unLAX.

We grabbed some breakfast and headed to our gate. We could only find Dunkin’ Donuts so I got a egg white veggie sandwich and hash browns and hubs got an everything bagel and cream cheese. I don’t think he was quite ready to let go πŸ˜€ We also got a strawberry glazed donut with sprinkles to share!

We hopped on the plane and had a really lovely 5 hour trip back to LA. I really enjoyed the snack box they gave us that had Chobani vanilla yogurt, granola, apple slices and this flat blueberry muffin thing. I loved that muffin and wish I could figure out where they sold it!

We arrived in LA at 10:50am (nothing like gaining a few hours back) and had all the intentions of going to the beach, but we were exhausted! We instead went to see if we could get movie tickets to Avengers: Endgame and get Chick-fil-a to eat at the park.

We did both and were very pleased with ourselves. After we arrived at home we unpacked, threw in laundry, showered and who knows what else before heading out to Endgame.

It was a 3 hour movie and holy cow was it the movie of all movies! If you’re an Avengers fan…you’ve probably already seen it!

We went home and grabbed some TBell for babes and In n’ Out for me. We had also planned it out and grabbed cake and a cookie from Susie Cakes!

Friday morning we woke up and headed out to our first gym session since Philly. It felt good to be in the gym! I was so hungry after this session and we came up with a breakfast plan.

Yogurt with granola and honey plus a shared PB and banana sandwich!

We had reserved tickets for The Broad for when we got back from our trip and so we showered up and headed out. The Broad was incredibly cool and saw some really interesting pieces.

20190426_143319

I guess neither of us were ready to let go of NY quite yet because we headed to Langer’s for pastrami sandwiches. We shared a sandwich which was great because each half could have been one sandwich.

20190426_15285920190426_153727

This was a really great sandwich! It was meaty and vinegary from the kraut and mustard…all the good things!

Having not been to Century City in a minute we headed over to check out some stores and grab a little sweet treat from Shake Shack- their strawberry shake.

20190426_173538

After wandering around and finding a skirt we headed off to a free comedy night at a pizza shop we had also been wanting to check out #notreadytoletgoofNY

20190426_195139

We shared a pie and enjoyed some comedy! Can you tell how much we really enjoy comedy?

We picked up some cake on the way home, but by the time we got home we were too exhausted to even bother. Sleep really took the cake πŸ˜‰

Saturday morning was for all the tidying up and touch ups. Since we’re moving, we’re going to be putting our house on sale so we had some decluttering to do before pictures. We spend most of the morning doing this, but before that we had to gather supplies and give ourselves some fuel.

That fuel came in the form of Pascal Patisserie. We got the breakfast burrito (my fave) and the carne asada sandwich (B’s fave). When we got home we had some cake! We finished up our tasks and cleaned up for yet another comedy show…we have a problem…

20190427_163412

We were planning on going out for dinner, but neither of us were feeling like it so we picked up some Panang curry from Jasmine Thai. We had our second piece of cake after and called it a night!

Sunday was our last vacay day and we made the most of it by finishing up our stuff and going grocery shopping πŸ˜€ We also skipped the gym this morning and got breakfast from Pascal. We got a bagel (there’s that NY thing popping up again) and an omelet sandwich.

We also picked up a pistachio croissant and an almond chocolate croissant. We split the pistachio one and saved the almond chocolate.

20190428_102426

We went home after this and prepped for the week and finished tidying up. I started getting hungry later into the evening and so we figured we’d better grab dinner.

Which brings me to another thing we did again was pick upΒ Thai food from another place called Box Thai.

20190428_174039

We got dumplings, chicken satay, and an order of pad kee mao. It was SO good! We will definitely be back here for more Thai!

We ate the almond chocolate croissant for dessert and chilled out for the rest of the night! That concludes our vacation-definitely had some vacation blues, but we were both ready to get back to some normal eating!

Happy Monday everybody!! Here’s to a great week!

What do you do after vacation when you get home?

Oklahoma

We recently made a trip to OKC and I am just getting around to putting up these posts (shmurp)! It was filled with a lot of family time and quite a few babies πŸ˜€ We had a great time!

We did workout while there and I had a lot of gas station coffee (which is actually pretty good there). We drank cherry limeades from Sonic and visited a few friends, but mostly we just sat around and talked and laughed and threw aluminum foil balls into trashcans.

The other thing we did a lot of was eat πŸ™‚ I definitely did not do a great job taking pictures, but hubby stepped in and took lots of great pictures. Thank the good Lord for him…imagine how bored you’d be reading about the delicious food I had with no pictures!

The best part of being home is having mom’s home made cooking-whether it’s my mom or my MIL the food is always delicious! We ended up having a little get together while there and my MIL made some yummy food…

There was chicken-grilled and flavorful

20180615_211128

Biriyani (rice, chicken, spices, etc) and a chickpea curry

20180615_211116

We had some salad (#health) and the orangey rice you’re seeing was one of the desserts.

20180615_211105

We also had fruit and naan and other dessert which we didn’t get pictures of, but I will continue to dream about and salivate over.

We had a really fun visit and we were sad when it was over, but it’s always nice to come home πŸ™‚

What’s your favorite part about visiting family and friends? Let me know in the comments!

Maui Day 4

Remember those donuts I told you about in Day 2? Well on day 4 we woke up nice and early to get those same donuts! We drove to Donut Dynamite to check out their brioche donuts…yes BRIOCHE.

The owner was so nice and went in depth to explain each of her donuts and how each ingredient makes the texture and flavor of each one unique. It was such a great experience and we even met a local Donut Dynamite lover!

I’m trying to recall the flavors we picked, but I believe we got a Samoa, a lillikoi filled (passionfruit), a calamansi glazed, mango glaze, cinnamon roll, vanilla bean, and brown butter?!

IMG-20180114-WA0053

I got some coffee from there and we decided to share a donut before heading to the gym. We split the vanilla bean and it was amazing! If you ever get to try this place check them out! So amazing and so worth it!

IMG-20180114-WA0009

Post workout we checked out Like Poke?-a poke truck that had some amazing reviews. Driving here we had no idea it would be a truck, but it was neat to see that there were actually a few different trucks all parked together.

IMG-20180114-WA0004

It was a Monday, but there were so many people here to grab lunch. It was super windy, but they had tables set up underneath a tent type situation.

IMG-20180114-WA0006

We got 2 poke bowls and the furikake fries which were incredible!

IMG-20180120-WA0001

We ended up trying all the donuts for our dessert. The lilikoi and calamansi were tangy, but the mild brioche added a nice contrast to the bright flavors. The mango was sweet and fruity. Each one was so true to flavor!

IMG-20180114-WA0054

We went home to get cleaned up because we had made plans to go to the Warren and Annabelle show. I’m not going to go into too many details about the show or this night. I don’t want to ruin it for those who want to see it.

We had some appetizers at the restaurant before heading in for the show…

IMG-20180114-WA0007

It was a really cool experience because we got picked along with 3 other couples to sit at the front and help with the show! We got to pick cards, answer questions, pop balloons. Both comedian magicians were hilarious and fun to watch!

IMG-20180114-WA0008

The show ended early enough so we were able to make it to Poi by the Pound for a late dinner! Just like the first night we got the Loco Moco on our last night in Maui πŸ™‚

IMG-20180114-WA0002

We also stopped for some Paia Gelato…we couldn’t resist!

Our night ended with some last minute packing and a few quick zs before an early wakeup for our flight back home!

I hope you guys enjoyed the Maui blogs. I know it made me happy to relive all these moments with you guys! It was honestly a great trip and I can’t wait till our next big adventure, but for now it’s nice to be home πŸ™‚

I also wanted to shout out my very sweet husband who took the time to take these gorgeous pictures while we were in Maui! He is seriously the best!! Thank you babe for being the greatest most supportive hubs ever!!

That wraps it up and I’ll see you lovelies on Wednesday!

Maui Day 3

I hope you guys are really loving the inventive titles for the Maui Series—it took a lot of thinking to come up with them πŸ˜‰

Anywhooo welcome to Day 3! Day 3 was one of my favorites, but I won’t lie it wasn’t the best for food. We decided to do the road to Hana this day and it was such a fun adventure. I highly recommend this if you ever come to Maui!

IMG-20180114-WA0018

We (by we I mean hubs) had read spots (mile markers) that were worth stopping at and that guided us through our drive.

It was a rainy day so it kept raining on and off so we would put the top on the car down and then a few minutes later be putting it up. The road in general was windy so if you are prone to getting car sick/motion sick just be aware!

Our morning started with a trip to get gas (fill up before you get going so you don’t get stuck), the ATM (you need cash for the road to Hana-nobody takes credit) and coffee (we needed fuel too)

Our first stop was pretty soon after where we went on a mini hike to discover the beautiful Twin Falls. It wasn’t super crowded yet-maybe due to it being early still or the rain. Either way it was so peaceful! On our way out we picked up some pineapple to munch on from the fruit stand.

IMG-20180114-WA0015

IMG-20180114-WA0016

After this we missed a couple of stops intentionally because of the rain…

We drove on and made another stop at the Half Way to Hana stand that is supposed to be famous for their banana bread. I can honestly see why because it was some of the best banana bread I have had. It was even still warm!

IMG-20180114-WA0019

The sun came out for a little bit in perfect timing for our next stop and mini hike. This waterfall was also beautiful, but there was quite a bit more people here than the first.

We stopped at Nahiku Marketplace for lunch and got some fish tacos and coconut shrimp and chips. I will not lie this was really just okay. I would definitely not make this stop if we did this again!

IMG-20180114-WA0021

We couldn’t resist checking out the Hana Lava Tube at mile marker 31. I think we paid $12 per person to go check it out. They give you flashlights so you can see in the pitch black cave. It was a cool experience. They have it set up with handrails to guide you and little blurbs along the way about the cave.

IMG-20180114-WA0023

Bit of light peaking through a hole in the roof of the cave

If you are interested they have a garden maze which we didn’t stick around for because it was raining!

Our next stop was at Wai’anapanapa State Park (mile marker 32). We came here for black sand beach, but there’s so much more than that. It’s a state park and if you have a permit you can camp out.

IMG-20180114-WA0024

We did not camp out but we did some hiking to and around black sand beach. It rained the whole time, but the views and experience were worth getting completely soaked. Wai’anapanapa was our absolute favorite part of the whole trip!

IMG-20180114-WA0025

After this we took the road to Hana all the way around (we wanted the whole experience) till we got home. I would recommend doing this instead of turning back around. The views are breath taking!

20180107_163411

20180107_163914

This road-trip took the whole day and by the time we got back to Paia we were tired and ready for some food! We found a pizza place on Yelp, Flatbread Company, and decided to give it a go. We got their organic salad plus a pizza to share. Half Jay’s Heart (cheese pizza) and half Pele Pesto (pesto made with macadamia, cheese, veggies).

IMG-20180114-WA0027

IMG-20180114-WA0052

We also felt after a day full of hiking and activity we should try out Paia Gelato. This was an absolute dream! The gelato was creamy and each flavor was so true to what it was supposed to be! I’m drooling thinking about it…

IMG-20180114-WA0057

Look at this cute little light switch cover!

IMG-20180114-WA0058

We ended up going in Kahului and checking out some stores after this, but other than that we called it a night!

Maui Day 1

We woke up to sunshine our first day in Maui! We felt rested and ready to explore πŸ™‚ After taking some time to get situated we headed out to a close by cafe, Paia Bay Coffee, to get coffee (MUCH wanted) and breakfast (MUCH needed).

IMG-20180114-WA0106

We ordered a salmon and lox bagel (typical us), a Greek yogurt bowl, and banana bread to go. I got some hot coffee while the hubs got iced.

IMG-20180114-WA0108

This salmon and lox bagel was so fresh and delicious and hearty-cream cheese, avocado, tomato. Absolute perfection!

IMG-20180114-WA0092

After taking some time to plot our day and our trip we headed out to Kihei. We explored the beach and checked out some local shops and stumbled into Cinnamon Roll Place where we got this decadent thing.

IMG-20180114-WA0109

Underneath all that is a cinnamon roll…I promise!

This cinnamon roll had cream cheese icing and macadamia nuts and warmed up it was ooey and gooey in all the best ways!

After some more walking we drove around and found ourselves at an outdoor mall. The weather was so beautiful it was perfect for window shopping and taking in the sun. We obviously always have to get a treat so we got this lilikoi (passion fruit) mochi ice-cream from Whaler’s General Store.

IMG-20180114-WA0110

By the way this next pic is the view from that mall’s parking lot.. This picture does absolutely no justice, but I felt like everywhere you looked in Maui it was so beautiful. Everything was lush and green and floral-all the deep happy sighs!

20180105_141416

We ended up changing up our plans and decided to head to Lahaina so to keep our energy up we stopped at Akamai coffee. We both got iced coffees this time and started our drive!

Lahaina may have been one of my favorite places of this trip! It’s definitely touristy, but it’s just fun. There’s a fun little boardwalk/shopping type of area that’s right across from the water. It has so many restaurants, coffee shops, and places for trinkets.

Our first find was a little taco truck called Ono Tacos. We shared one fish and one shrimp taco. I don’t remember who liked which more, but each taco was devoured!

After this we walked our way from Ono Tacos to the outdoor outlet mall to the Lahaina boardwalk. There was so much to look at between the stores and the beautiful water! We tried to take it all in the best we could.

We had dinner at Lahaina Luna Cafe which took some walking around to find, but ended up being well worth it! We got teri-fried chicken bites, fish and chips, and a taco combo. The taco combo came with one mahi-mahi taco and one Korean bbq beef taco.

img-20180114-wa0070.jpg

The teri-fried chicken bites were these little pieces of fried chicken coated in a sweet teriyaki glaze. They were crunchy and delicious!

IMG-20180114-WA0069

The Korean bbq beef taco was the fave among the two tacos πŸ™‚

IMG-20180114-WA0114

Lahaina Luna was right next door to a place highly rated on Yelp. It has 5 stars (out of 5) and over a 1000 reviews. I mean that’s pretty crazy! I know you’re dying to know what this place is-it’s Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice.

IMG-20180114-WA0115

I believe we got coconut, mango, and pineapple with macadamia soft serve, sweet and condensed milk and mochi on top.

IMG-20180114-WA0068

And yes, it was 5 star worthy!

We did some more perusing before heading home to catch some z’s before day 2 began!

I’ll see you lovelies on Monday until then tell me have you been to Lahaina? Did we make any of the same stops? Comment below and let me know!
