Loving

I absolutely love reading these posts and I love sharing them! I’m just going to run you guys through some of my favorite things recently.

Jumping right in let’s start with a show! We have both been hooked on to Botched recently and can watch hours of this stuff. It’s so fascinating to me and who doesn’t love a good before and after? Am I right?

I know I shared buying this oil, but after having used it for a little while now I can honestly say I love it. It’s SO hydrating and leaves my face feeling glowy. I use it every night along with another oil, but I occasionally will use it under my moisturizer during the day if my skin is feeling particularly parched.

20191212_114747

This jacket from Abercrombie has been my go to. It is super soft and cozy and keeps me SO warm…sometimes maybe even a bit too warm. I love the fit and the way it looks! If you’re in need/want of a teddy jacket this would be the way to go!

20200102_135356

Trader Joe’s has been my go to right now for fruit. I love the selection of apples they have had recently and this particular apple is my favorite. The Kiku is crisp and sweet and my absolute perfect apple!

20200109_110843

Another great Trader Joe’s find were these mandarins. I adore mandarins during this time of year and I have been sad at the selection recently. I got this 5 pound box on a whim and swooned. These are so easy to peel and sweet-I’m actually going to get one right now…

20200109_110936

Bob’s Red Mill peanut butter and banana bars have really been hitting the spot when I need something to grab and go. I honestly haven’t been buying bars recently because I don’t enjoy them as much as I used to, but during our December travels I tried one of these and ended up loving them. They have the texture of a date and nut bar so if you enjoy Lara bars you may like these.

20200109_112232

I think I am going to cut it off there for my favorites, but I would love to know what you guys have been loving recently.

Let me know in the comments below!

Winter Skin Care Additions

Winter has been kicking in as much as it does in Southern California, but the colder, dryer temps have been leaving parts of my face and body dry and irritated. My lighter face lotion and nightly face oil haven’t been cutting it for moisturization. For my body the lighter lotions with SPF haven’t been enough so I’ve been layering the Bath and Body Vanilla and Rose on top to really amp up hydration.

I finally decided to just take the leap and buy some things to help my poor skin stay glowy and supple through winter.

I have loved L’occitane products for a long time, but the price tag has always kept me from purchasing full size. I splurged on this lotion and don’t plan on using it until I am out of the Bath and Body Vanilla and Rose, but I am excited to have something a bit more emollient on hand. I love the clean, light scent and the reviews were all pretty amazing. The only thing I am a little bummed about is that they don’t really have any products with SPF so I’ll have to continue to layer on a SPF lotion with this.

20191212_114838

My next item is the Kiehl’s face cream with SPF. Over the summer I had switched from the cream to the lotion, but with dryer conditions it was time to switch back. We also have a couple of future trips into colder climates that will require a thicker moisturizer so I’m happy to have made this purchase.

20191212_114809

I love a good face oil and I was running low on my Herbivore Orchid so I thought I would make the leap and buy the Moroccan Argan Oil from The Ordinary. This was under $10 and is supposed to be very hydrating without being comedogenic. I’ve been pairing it with the Herbivore and have been finding that my skin is less dry when I wake up in the mornings.

20191212_114747

I’m hoping that all these skin loving products will leave me with less dry patches and more glow! What are you guys using to combat winter dryness? Any products you recommend?

Have a great weekend! I’ll see you guys Monday!

Loving

Welcome back friends! Today I have for you another favorites post, but this one is a little longer than usual so bear with me. Since it is a bit longer I am just going to jump right in to it!

The first fave are the Guittard chocolate wafers for baking. I’ve had quite a few chocolate chips in my life and these are the best I’ve ever had! They are smooth and creamy-I loved ย them in my chocolate chip cookies and I bet they would be great in banana bread or pancakes! They are a pricy, but for the occasional switch up I think they are worth it!

20190324_170326

When my Alaffia face cream I had used for so many years got discontinued I had to find another face cream. I did a LOT of research and did not want to spend an arm and a leg, but I also didn’t want to cause any issues to my skin. After all the research I realized the only way to know if something was going to work for me was to take the leap and try it out on my own skin.

That being said, I wanted to stack the deck in my favor and I knew Kiehl’s is a brand that had been around for a LONG time. They do skin care well so I decided to get the Ultra Facial Cream with SPF 30. I thought this would be perfect since I am terrible at putting on sunscreen. This eliminates a whole step for me since the SPF is built right in! I absolutely have been loving this moisturizer. The SPF doesn’t leave my skin tone looking grey and ghastly, but sinks right in and leaves a nice little glow. I am so happy that I found this and I don’t know if I’ll ever go to anything else!

20190407_155726

I normally don’t talk about shows I’m watching on here, but I have been seriously obsessed with Queer Eye on Netflix. I could binge on this show for hours! I laugh, I cry-it’s a whole mood. I love the positive message this show sends and at the end of the day it’s a feel good series. Side note: I love all 5 of the Fab Five, but I think Jonathan Van Ness is my spirit animal!

Speaking of QE, I found the recipe for this Green Goddess dip on the show and we are beyond obsessed with it. It’s so easy, healthy, and delicious! It’s a great dip, dressing, eat it by the spoonful type things and you best believe I am doing all of the above ๐Ÿ˜€ One thing, we don’t add olive oil to ours simply because we like the consistency the Greek yogurt and avocado create. It is more dip-like, but that’s okay with us.

20190331_160416

Another item I was on the hunt for was a new face oil and I found this one from Herbivore. It’s their Orchid Youth-Preserving Facial Oil and I could write an ode about how much I love it. I’m not sure what it’s doing to preserve by youth (haven’t used it for long enough), but it is hydrating, leaves a gorgeous glow, and the floral scent in this is everything. If you’re sensitive to scents it does dissipate quickly, but I would go into Sephora and smell it to be safe!

20190312_083904

Spring has sprung and summer is almost here and in preparation for warmer months I have been on the hunt for fun summer nail colors. I found this one at TJ Maxx and have been reaching for it every time I decide to paint my nails. The color is coral carousel by Essie. It’s a coral-y peachy pinky shade and I thought it was too pretty to not talk about!

20190322_152458

One of our favorite things to do is go to comedy shows-it can be stand up, improv, a play whatever, but we love to laugh. We find them and go often, but I never really thought about mentioning it until now. The tickets are usually not super expensive and it also gets us out and exploring another part of town we may not have gone to otherwise. It’s something I recommend for a fun and different date night or going out with friends!

20190316_195019

I’m wrapping up this post, but tell me what you have been loving recently! Do you love comedy shows? Have you been watching Queer Eye?

Some shopping I did

I love hauls, but I wasn’t sure this qualified as a haul. I recently made some purchases from Sephora, TJ Maxx, and Forever 21, but it’s a few stores and I really only got a few things.

I was needing a refill on my favorite concealer so I decided to do some online Sephora shopping and we all know how that leads to a lot of money spend on things we didn’t know we needed.

I do love this NARS radiant creamy concealer. It’s always worked for me and it looks great! It works for brightening up my under eye or concealing a spot and that’s all I can ask of my concealers!

20190312_083719

I ended up adding my birthday gift to this order so I wouldn’t have to go in to an actual store. As a skin care lover it was easy to pick out the Drunk Elephant deluxe sample. I’m curious to try it out! It’s also excellent for travel ๐Ÿ™‚

20190312_083648

Another deluxe sample I was able to add on was this Alt-retinol from Ole Henriksen. It’s something I had looked at it before and thought it would be interesting to try, but kept putting it off because of the price tag. I’m curious to try it in this size and see if it makes a difference! Fingers crossed my skin loves it!

20190312_083105

I was running low on my Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery and initially I was just going to reorder more of the same, but I decided to do some looking around and found this Herbivore Orchid Youth-Preserving Facial Oil. I figured I would try it out and if my skin loved it I could keep it other wise I would just return it and find something else.

20190312_083904

I love that Sephora includes samples with their packages and I ended up getting this Youth to the People Face Wash and Black Opium Perfume. I’m not sure how I feel about the Black Opium quite yet, but maybe it’ll be another favorite?

20190312_084052

That was it from Sephora, but I did do some in store shopping at TJ Maxx and Forever 21. From TJ Maxx I picked up these fun, yellow overalls. They have pockets and I thought they would be perfect for that spring to summer transition time. They are cottony so they don’t feel as heavy as a denim overalls which I love!

20190312_105904

To go with my overalls I wanted to find a couple of body suits. I had actually eyed these a couple weeks prior at Forever 21, but when I was trying to figure out how to style the overalls they came back to me. I got a navy blue floral and a basic white. These were soft and very fitted!

Let me know if you’ve tried any of the Sephora items I got and if you loved or hated them! Also, body suits? Do you love them or hate them? These are my firsts so I’m curious!

Loving

I love doing these posts and reading posts like this from other people! I think it’s so interesting to see new finds and sometimes I find something super useful in those posts.

I’m constantly loving all the things, but here are a few that keep coming up over and over…

Quick meals-I don’t know if I’m just more hungry then usual or I’m waiting too long to start making my meals, but fast meals to get food from my fridge to my tummy have been a major go to.

I know summer is gone, but I cannot get enough of these grape/cherry tomatoes. They are so delicious! Side note: also can’t get enough grapes…

20181115_131328

This dress I found at H&M…not my usual style, but I thought it was super cute and it was under $10! Whaaaaat??

20181123_161309

I love a good rose scent, but this vanilla and rose lotion from Bath and Body takes it to another level! It’s seriously so lovely!

20181115_104901

Dinner with friends is always a favorite, but I think it means a lot more now knowing that we are all going different ways come later next year ๐Ÿ˜ž

20181202_123525

I’ve been wanting some heart earrings and these gold plated ones were too cute to resist. I actually mix them up when I wear them instead of pairing them with their twin!

20181125_140255

I think that wraps up my favorites! Talk to me in the comments and let me know what you’ve been loving recently! Till next time ๐Ÿ™‚

Face Off (Part 2): Kiehl’s vs Drunk Elephant

In my last post I left off by telling you I decided to try out Drunk Elephant and Kiehl’s face oils. Now, I want to say (again) I wasn’t planning on writing a post about this I just wanted to find ONE face oil that would keep my skin hydrated and brighten it up.

I started that journey with Drunk Elephant’s Marula oil. It claimed to help with fine lines, uneven skin tone, and dry skin. I thought great! I got the 0.5ml size and it lasted me for I think a good 3 months-you don’t need a lot. It was pricey, but if it did something I could have justified the price. For my skin it did nothing…

Which is why I decided to give Kiehl’s a try. This wasn’t my first time trying Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery. I had actually tried out some sample sizes of this oil during my trip to Maui in January. I loved it during that time, but I couldn’t tell if it was the humid conditions in Maui that left my skin glowing or the oil.

I’ve been using Kiehl’s for a couple of weeks. I don’t think that is nearly enough time to be able to tell if something is working for your skin, but this Midnight Recovery Oil has changed my mind on that.

When I wake up my skin just looks better-more hydrated and even. If I go to bed with some redness it will usually be gone by morning. I have had a few zits that I have gone to bed with and woken up to find them completely gone or at least reduced.

I’m also loving the smell. It’s a nice herbal scent. It is pretty strong, but it tends to go away pretty quickly. I think I like because the Tarte Maracuja oil that I used to use smelled like frying oil. I didn’t mind it because at the time it made a difference in my skin, but now having something that smells less like french fries and more like plants has me feeling all kinds of happy.

I never understood why people get upset when someone says they don’t like something you like in the beauty and skin care world. We all have different types of skin and we all have different wants and needs for our skin care. Of course we won’t all like the same thing!ย Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery just worked better at the things I wanted to achieve with my skin care.

That’s why it’s so important to do your own research, read reviews, look at the ingredients in the product because at the end of the day your skin might be way different from your favorite beauty gurus or your besties.

With all that being said let me know what skin care products you’ve been using and loving!

See you lovelies Thursday!

Face Oil Face Off Part 1

I had no intention of writing one post, much less two, about this, but I just couldn’t believe how much of a difference a skin oil could make when it was the right one for your skin, but before I get into that I wanted to share about my skin journey.

Let me start by saying I had pretty good skin as a kid through high school and even college. I had combination skin, but don’t remember ever having any major moments of skin issues or waking up with gnarly zits.

My skin started having breakouts here and there as an adult in my early 20s especially around that time of month. Again no big deal, I would get a pimple now and again, but this is around the time I wanted to put more into my skin care.

I started doing a lot of homemade skin masks and I’m not sure if this made my skin worse or better, but I felt like the more I did the angrier my pimple/zit would get. I decided I needed to keep things simple since my skin seemed to do better with that and narrowed down my skin care regimen.

I chose a Neem and Shea face lotion to help me tackle any dark spots left by acne and since neem is known to be good for acne prone skin I figured it would be a good pick. I also read a lot of reviews and did research on the the ingredients in the product before deciding to give it a go.

20160921_150625

I actually still use this as my morning moisturizer and it still does a great job, but it does smell pretty herbaly.

I was using Tarte’s Maracuja oil at bedtime and that would help calm the inflammation. I actually used it up until a few months ago, I think. I loved the product, but I think after using it for so many years it wasn’t doing anything for my skin anymore.

20160905_140855-1

I did some research on different brands and some were pricier than others with all sorts of claims to do all sorts of wonderful things for your skin. I read reviews and figured out what I was looking for in a skin oil.

I was torn between Sunday Riley’s Luna, Drunk Elephant’s Marula, and Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery.

I ended up deciding to try out the Drunk Elephant’s Marula oil and Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery and that is where I will leave you for today.

Catch up with me on Monday to find out which face oil won the face off for me!

See you then!

FabFitFun Summer Unboxing

I know I am a little late to the game, but I wanted to post my FabFitFun box! I was super excited about this season’s box because I had heard that there would be a Foreo included and I had been thinking about purchasing one for a LONG time. Let’s just say I was pretty happy I hadn’t jumped the gun since I got it in this box!

20180608_144419

Let’s jump into the box shall we?

20180608_144656

As I mentioned, the biggest reason I was so excited for this box was because of this Foreo Luna Fofo ($89). I love exfoliating my skin and I’ve heard so many good things about this particular tool. I am super happy to have received it in the box!

20180608_150040

Elemis is a skin care brand I had heard many good things about, but never thought about getting because of how pricey it was (this was $45). I am totally excited to try out this Papaya Enzyme Peel from them! It smells so good-nothing strong, just a nice soft clean, spa scent.

20180608_145459

Tarte was included twice in this box with the Sex Kitten Liquid Liner and Tarte Tarteist PRO To Go Palette ($43 for both). I usually use a pencil eyeliner so I am interested to see how I will do with this liquid liner. As for the palette, who doesn’t like playing with some eyeshadows?

Since it is summer and the hot sun rays are in full effect I was happy to have received the COOLA Face Sport SPF 50. I currently use Neutrogena, but this SPF is valued at $32 so I am interested to see if it’s any better than the one I currently use.

20180608_145848

I got another skin care product from Vasanti ($29). It’s called Brighten Up! It’s a facial cleanser that is supposed to take off dead skin cells and reveal bright, beautiful skin. Between all the products I have gotten in this box I feel like my face may be the brightest it’s ever been.

20180608_145556

Just like I love giving my face a good exfoliation I love exfoliating my body too and I am hoping this Jaboneria Marinella Hawaiian Black Lava Body Caviar ($48) will help with removing some of my dead skin and put some hydration back into it.

20180608_145711

I had been eyeing some make up cases for travel and so I was pleased as punch to see this Yumi Kim Makeup Train Case ($58) included in the box. I loved the pretty lavender purple shade I got with the sweet flowers all across! I will definitely be using the heck outta this!

20180608_150438

This last thing I wasn’t over the top about, but it is beautiful and can be useful. It’s this Pier 1 Imports Marble Ring Dish ($14.99). I placed it on our catch all table so it could catch all the random, small things we toss onto it!

20180608_145242

This was my FabFitFun box and I am so excited to play with all of the things! Let me know if you want a follow up post on any of the things I mentioned in this post. I would be more than happy to do it!

Also, talk to me in the comments below if you subscribe to FabFitFun and tell me what you loved about the Summer Box!

Let’s Talk Collagen

I recently decided to do a thing. I decided to start taking collagen…

20180512_110516

I feel like collagen has been everywhere recently kinda like coconut oil had been and after doing some research I thought it would be a good supplement to include in my diet. Let me tell you why!

1.I can almost guarantee I am not getting enough from food sources. I don’t drink bone broth, eat enough meat, or gelatin to help me in any way.

2.Collagen is great for bone strength. Again I don’t drink milk (dairy) and I have a small frame and my momma has osteopenia-this girl doesn’t have time for that low bone density life.

3.I love skin care, but I don’t want to use 30 products to “stop the aging process.” Collagen can help with fine lines and helps keep your skin youthful.

4.Along with skin benefits it is great for nails and hair. I feel like I’ve been shedding like nobody’s business so maybe this will help!

5.I have cellulite-it’s an annoying part of womanhood, but what can you do? Take some collagen apparently ๐Ÿ™‚

Now, this is why I started taking collagen, but we will see if it’s effective. I just started taking it, but I can keep you guys posted on if I notice any changes.

The one that I take is the one pictured above and it says you can mix it with water or OJ. I highly suggest you do NOT mix it with water-I tried and it was gross.

The OJ suggestion is because apparently Vitamin C helps with the absorption of collagen.ย The way I have been using it is by mixing it in with my morning coffee. It becomes tasteless and all I can taste is my delicious cup of joe.

Have you guys used collagen? What do you think? Have you seen any improvements?

Friday Faves

Hello sweet people!

Are you guys as ready for the weekend as I am? I am super ready, but before the weekend starts I thought I would bring you a few things I have kinda been liking hard.

This was a gift from the hubs parents when they visited us back in January and I just love it. I have super tiny wrists which make bracelets and watches hard to find and I just never like they way they look. This one has this beautiful gold and the strap is a lovely tan leather. I think it’s so pretty!

20180409_111605

You guys know the hubs gifted me with a Fab Fit Fun box for my birthday and it had this face cream in it. I honestly have been loving it! I have combination skin (normal on the parameter of my face and oily t-zone), but I don’t like matte anything. This is a light-weight lotion that does a great job at moisturizing and leaving my face with a lovely glowy finish.

20180409_111801

Easter is over and done, but I found this bowl and spoon and couldn’t help but buy it. I mean it is light pink and has ears and whiskers-how could I not buy it?? It’s supposed to be a dip bowl, but I will probably use it for cereal or ice-cream or something else.

20180409_110343

My last favorite is this make up mirror we had bought from Costco a few months ago. I wasn’t completely sold on it, but I can now say I am a fan. It’s really handy when both hubs and I need to shower because I can shower and do my makeup in the bedroom instead of hogging up the bathroom with makeup time.

20180409_111707

I know I always ask, but what have you lovelies been loving? Let me know in the comments below ๐Ÿ™‚
