Full Day of Eating

It’s my first Full Day of Eating post in 2019 and I am here for it!

I love starting my day off with a yummy Β breakfast so today it was a bowl of greens, grape tomatoes, potatoes, and eggs! Noms!!

I’ve been having breakfast later which means later lunch. The only problem with that is during the work week we have earlier dinner so a big lunch means I don’t want to have dinner. My solution? Have a smaller/snackier lunch. I’m happy with that and you guys know I LOVE having little bit of everything so this is perfect!

I decided on a half grilled cheese, greens, tomatoes and a little bit of golden lentil soup from Amy’s.

The other trend you may notice is that I tend to eat the same veggies with most meals. This is because there’s only two of us and I hate buying a bunch of produce and throwing it away because I didn’t have time to use it. To avoid this I will buy a few different veggies and use them up throughout the week.

I’ve also been buying frozen bell peppers to add to eggs and frozen breakfast potatoes because it keeps pretty well and sometimes it’s even a little less expensive.

For dinner we ended up going to an AYCE sushi place called Hikari. It’s actually pretty close to the other AYCE Β sushi place we went to, Maru. This place was delicious, but we still prefer Maru.

Hunida’s blogs have me on a sushi kick!

Hikari also gave us complimentary green tea ice-cream at the end of our meal. It was sweet and had a very mild green tea flavor!

We came home after this and relaxed until it was time for bed πŸ™‚ what have you been eating? Do you have a favorite AYCE sushi place?

 

Brunch with Bae

Do you guys remember when I talked about Blu Jam Cafe? It was a pretty excellent experience last time and sadly we hadn’t been back since then. I guess that’s the issue of living in LA. Too many places to go and not enough time or belly space πŸ˜€

We made time last week and hit up Blu Jam for round 2. I got the Migas this time and bae got the Powerhouse.

Migas came with eggs, beef chorizo, mozz cheese (I subbed cheddar), and tortilla chips. It came with a side of the crispiest breakfast potatoes and a few corn tortillas! This was honestly me in a breakfast bowl.

Bae’s Powerhouse came with egg whites with spinach and two pieces of chicken with salsa to top it all off.

It was a hot day and so we ended up skipping their famous french toast this time around and stopping by Menchie’s for some frozen yogurt.

I got pineapple sorbet and cake batter with some mango popping balls!

Bae got all the sorbets: pineapple, watermelon, and honeydew plus some strawberry froyo. He added some mochi, almonds, and whipped cream on top πŸ™‚

A full day of eating + dinner with the girls

I love reading/seeing the FDOE posts so that’s why I try to throw them in every once in a while. I somehow managed to successfully photograph all the food that went into my mouth (minus a few things).

Breakfast:

I did not manage to capture the piece of sourdough toast I had with some butter and blueberry preserves while getting ready. That was because I was in serious need of food, but this was just a little snack or as some call it pre-breakfasting.

Recently I have been into boiled eggs, spinach (duh), and some type of fruit. We had cherries this day so cherries it was!

Lunch:

I had an egg, cheese, and potato burrito. I added some cheese to the pan when I was about to grill up the burrito to add that burnt cheese flavor and crunch I love so much (insert heart eye emoji here)

I also had some fruit for dessert…this poor peach was on it’s last leg. I literally had to cut off a part of it because it had started to go bad.

Dinner:

Dinner was out with the girls at Paradise Cove Cafe and it was a lot of fun and a lot of LARGE portions. We had some nachos with chicken, cheese, beans and it came with guac, sour cream, and salsa. This was humongous, but we were starving so we killed this plate of nachos easily between the 4 of us.

Not pictured is the ginormous bowls of clam chowder. We had split up into pairs to share a bowl, but we could have EASILY split one bowl between the 4 of us.

My main was this ahi tuna sandwich and it came with fries. The sandwich was good and the fries amazing, but I could barely finish half after all the apps. I did bring the rest of it home and the hubs ate the rest of the ahi tuna πŸ™‚

Dessert:

Didn’t happen, but my sweet friend made oreo truffle pops for us and they were super cute. I didn’t eat one this night, but did the next after dinner and they were divine!

Oh the food we will eat…Egg Slut

I had been wanting to try Egg Slut for a long time, but there just never seemed to be a good time. Welp, finally ran into one during a walk around downtown and they weren’t overly swarmed so we made the stop πŸ˜‰

We ordered the Fairfax which is a soft scrambled egg with chives, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and sriracha mayo on a toasted brioche bun.

I cannot deny that the sandwich was killer! The soft scramble was done really well. The combination of the sweet caramelized onions and slight tang from the sriracha mayo played really well with the mild, creamy flavor from the eggs πŸ˜‹

If you ever get the chance to check out Egg Slut I highly recommend the Fairfax!

Breakfast for Days

Can I tell you something?

I sometimes (read: a LOT of the time) take pictures of my breakfast to do a What I Eat in a Day post, but I always forget by the time snack time or lunch rolls around.

Instead of stressing about that I figured I would bring together all my recent breakfasts and make a post of one my favorite meals of the day–the other being dessert, of course!

If you give me tortillas, cheddar cheese, and eggs I can give you breakfast. It may come in the form of tacos….

This “breakfast snack” was because we had just worked out, still needed to shower, and were planning on going to brunch. Just FYI, if you ever see a brunch post in here there’s a 99.999% chance I have had a “breakfast snack.”

 

TBH it was a great snack–not the most beautiful snack, but tasty for sure!

I needed some spice in my life so I added some hot sauce to this next breakfast sandwich

And as it so happens I also enjoy English muffins as vehicles to get egg and cheese into my mouth πŸ™‚

Eats in a Bowl

We bought some bowls recently and I can’t help but keep using them for every. single. thing. They are the perfect size for my meals and they keep everything contained. Not to mention that I love (like LOVE) bowl food πŸ™‚

I’ve been pretty basic with this bowl breakfast: a simple avo toast topped with an over-easy egg!

This meal was left over Fuji apple chicken salad from Panera.My husband got me hooked on this many years ago and it’s just freaking amazing…the apples are sweet and crunchy and perfection πŸ™‚

Delicious Eats From This Past Week

Hello hello!! Today I bring you some of my tasty eats from this past week.

I woke up one morning craving an egg+cheese+croissant sandwich and decided that it must happen ASAP. When your girl is determined she gets it done! It was absolutely drool worthy…

This is a dish I dreamt up and made…halibut tacos with guac and topped with cruciferous mix (I forgot to get a cabbage mix…oops!)

Brunch at Home

We had some crushed tomato sauce left over from our Hello Fresh pizza night and we hate wasting so I decided to make a fun brunch pizza πŸ™‚

20170818_121957I added a side salad and dressed it by combining tahini and EVOO-so good!

This pizza was super easy and quick: I used a piece of naan bread I already had as the base, layered on some crushed tomatoes, some mozz, salt, pep and chili flakes, and finally cracked an egg over top.

This all happened after a leg workout so I was starving and food never tasted so good! I love using up random ingredients by making something super yummy. What are some fun things you make when you have left over ingredients?

Blue Apron

In this house, we love food. Not only that, but we love GOOD food so when the hubs asked if we should try out Blue Apron, I said yes! I had heard a lot of rave reviews about Blue Apron and had been curious to try it out.

When the box arrived on our doorstep we were excited and ready to dive in. All the food came nicely packaged. Everything was kept nice and cold with the large ice packs.

Our box came with 3 meals for 2 people..pretty perfect for us πŸ™‚ We had picked out the Spanish Style Eggs, Marinated Beef Pitas, and Spicy Beef Tacos. The box came with these lovely recipe cards with all the ingredients you would need listed on the front.

I’m thinking the recipe cards will be great for recreating the recipes we end up really enjoying!

I can’t wait to get started cooking our way through this box! I’m pretty sure I know what we will be trying first, but I will keep you posted. I’m planning on doing a review on our three meals so stay tuned for that!
