I just love the word shenanigans! I try to not overuse it, but every time I say it, it just makes me so happy! Anyywho, I am having to split this weekend post into two so it’s not super long. You’ll see what we got up to on Sunday on Thursday’s blog 🙂
We started Saturday off a little slow. We had a late Friday and didn’t get up till 9am on Saturday. This is actually super late for us, but it was fine since we didn’t have anything planned for early in the day.
We’ve had this tickets to Magic Mountain for a while so we headed over there and checked out the park. It was a surprisingly warm day and we tuckered out pretty quickly and decided to head to “brunch.”
Sandwiches seemed like a great option so we went to Mendocino and ordered our favorite Peruvian Steak Sandwich and their Pesto Turkey Tartine.
Neither of use realized that the turkey was a tartine till it came to our table. It was super messy, but pretty delicious. Honestly this did not need to be a tartine, it really needed another slice of bread!
The steak sandwich was delicious as always-a little spice, a lot of savory.
We headed to the Grove after this to check out the sights and Christmas decor. When we got there we realized we needed something sweet and ran into this crepe shop.
We created our own with strawberries, banana, and nutella. Holy cow was this so yummy! We finished this super quick!
We walked around a little more and then headed back to the car for another little bakery adventure. I’ve talked about Porto’s on the blog before and we LOVE it. It’s a really great bakery and the prices are fantastic.
If you ever have a chance to visit Porto’s I highly recommend it. Depending on when you go the lines look crazy, but they go by super quickly. It also gives you a chance to figure out what you want!
We headed home with our goodies and relaxed for a while until our tummies started to tell us it was dinner time. We found a new sushi place on Yelp, Raku Teriyaki, and decided to give it a go. They had 4.5 stars and 233 reviews so we figured it was a safe bet.
We got a few rolls and two orders of nigiri. The nigiri was $6 to add on to a roll so we thought why not?
The hubs and I both thought they were good…I may have enjoyed them more then he did 🙂 The fish was fresh and tasty and I always love it when the flavors on the fish complement the fish and not overpower it. Raku did that pretty well!
We had some watermelon kombucha to wash it all down! This is one of my favorite kombucha flavors from this brand.
We decided to get a “few” items to have for dessert that night and may have gone just a tad overboard. We got their cheese roll, guava and cheese pastry, tres leches cake, flan, chocolate cake, mango mousse, and a hazelnut chocolate cookie. All of this was under $20 and all of it was delicious!
Don’t be alarmed we definitely sampled all of the things, but did not finish all of it. We ended up warming up the cheese roll the next day in the toaster oven and it was just as good!
It was pretty fantastic foodie Saturday all in all 🙂
What’s your favorite bakery? What do you get from there?
