Boobs and Bras: Pepper vs Third Love

This post is all about bras sooo this is your “if you don’t care about bras or boobs please go read one of my other posts :)” warning.

For those who are sticking around let’s talk boobs. I realized a few weeks ago that bras are something I wear on a daily basis and don’t enjoy. In fact taking it off is quite possibly one of the best feelings! For something I wear on a day to day basis it seemed kinda silly that I hadn’t taken the time or energy to invest in a good one.

20200212_110854

I am a part of the itty bitty titty committee and the bras I currently own have straps that fall, cups that gape, and, as small as I am on top, underwire that is tight and leaves marks.

Instead of researching and never taking the leap I decided to check out Pepper and Third Love. They had both popped up on my IG feed and I had saved them to “check out later.” Later was now and I was determined.

I ordered Pepper first. Their site was great about how to measure yourself to find your right size. They only have a few styles of bras and I was recommended the All You Bra in 32B. Because of the questions they asked on measurement I felt pretty confident that this fit should be correct. The cost was $49.

20200212_110218

Third Love’s questions were not so much numerical but about a bra that you already own and what the fit is like. I got matched with a 32A for their bra and was recommended the 24/7 Classic Contour Plunge. I didn’t feel as confident about the sizing here, but took the plunge 😏 anyway. The cost was $68.

20200212_110416

Third Love is operated in a city pretty close to us so I received my package the next day. This was very exciting! I did have a hard time swallowing the price. I tried it on and found it to be comfortable and fit pretty well, but was it $68 worth of fitting well and comfortable?

I felt torn, but ultimately decided to return the bra. The bra was good, but I could not justify having to buy another one for $68. What’s the point of having one good bra?

I recieved Pepper a few days later. The fit was good. Nothing felt super tight, the straps didn’t fall. It was comfortable and I didn’t feel like I was tugging and pulling all day. $49 isn’t a cheap bra by any means, but I decided to keep it.

20200212_105944

I am thinking about getting another bra from Pepper, but I may try out some less expensive brands while I look into the wear and tear of Pepper.

With all that being said I did return my Third Love bra and ran into some issues. The return process is supposed to be easy, but after submitting my email and answering a couple of questions online I was told it would take 30 minutes to receive my return label.

I thought that was odd because I’ve done returns with other companies and it’s super quick to get a return label. I’m talking immediate, but I moved on with my day and still did not receive my return label. I used the chat option online (they don’t have a phone number) and had great customer service. She immediately send me a link to my return label.

I returned it that day to FedEx because I had no time later in the week. I got a receipt and later on the following week I checked to see where my package was because I had not received any emails regarding my return. I saw that they had received it on Tuesday. I decided to wait until the following week to contact if I hadn’t heard anything.

While on break at work the following Tuesday I decided I should look into it. I started a chat and was told that she could see my refund had not been issued and she would do it immediately. I got an email stating that my issue has been refunded. She told me it would take 2-3 business days for it to reflect on my credit card statement.

I am impressed with the service when I go out of my way to reach out to them. It did leave a bad taste in my mouth that I had to take a few extra steps to finish my return. I don’t think I’ve had a company not let me know about when my return was received. It just seems like a nice thing to do?

First world problems, right? Let me know what you guys think about it?

Also let me know if you have ever tried Third Love or Pepper and what you thought? Are you interested in trying out either brand? Let me know!

Oh the food we will eat…Catch LA

Catch LA has never been one of those spots that’s been on my radar. I’m an avid Yelp user and am super blessed to live around so much good food! There are so many spots that are 4.5 stars with hundreds if not thousands of reviews. It’s insane!

Catch LA is 3.5 stars which is good and it’s a super popular Insta spot in LA. It’s one of those places you go to “see and be seen.” It’s super LA in vibe-music, loud chatter, dim lighting, eclectic decor. It’s cute!

IMG-20200307-WA0002

It was explained to us that the menu was meant for sharing but if we wanted to do larger individual dishes the “Big Fish” or “Big Meat” menu would be the way to go. We opted to go the sharing route so we could try a few of their popular things.

We ordered five items: Catch Ceviche, Truffle Sashimi, Crunchy Rice Cake, Cod Lettuce Wraps, and Lobster Mac and Cheese.

The first dish that came out was the truffle sashimi. Tuna, hamachi, chili ponzu, caviar, and black truffle came together to create the most delectable bite. This was almost melt in your mouth-so buttery! This was one of the group’s favorites!

IMG-20200307-WA0001

The ceviche was a combination of Alaskan king crab, Maine lobster, shrimp, and scallops with mango and blood orange ponzu. It was fresh and bright and enjoyable. I don’t know if this is a dish I think you need to order, but it was good.

IMG-20200307-WA0006

Hubby enjoyed the cod lettuce wraps, but I thought they were kinda bland? These came with bourbon miso, kataifi, and shitake mushrooms. The fish was well cooked but that’s all I could say about this one. If you come here I would skip this one…

IMG-20200307-WA0008

Now, the lobster mac and cheese. OH.EM.GEE. The lobster mac and cheese. It was not super ooey gooey cheesy, but it had the best savory umami flavor and it held up well to the lobster. It was hardy and delicious! You should absolutely get this πŸ™‚

IMG-20200307-WA0007

The last dish to come out was the crunchy rice cake with tuna tartare and wasabi tobiko. I love a good crunchy rice cake and this dish ended up being the favorite of the night. The crispy rice cake, the mildly spiced fish…please get this. 3/3 of us said this was our favorite dish of the night!

IMG-20200307-WA0010

We did get dessert and decided to go for the most popular and probably Insta-worthy? The Hit Me Chocolate Cake. Liquid Klondike, roasted white chocolate ice-cream, brownie, and devil’s food. It’s called “Hit Me” because you have to hit the “Klondike” bar with your spoon to crack it open. It was a deliciously chocolatey but not overly chocolatey dish. I think chocolate lovers and chocolate likers will both enjoy this dish immensely. I would recommend this to add to your list of “do get.”

IMG-20200307-WA0011

Three of the five dishes were incredible. That’s a pretty good amount I think? In terms of service I don’t have much to say because it was just okay. There was no Republique type of attentiveness or attention to detail, but it wasn’t bad either.

I really enjoyed our time at Catch LA. I think a big part of that had to do with being there with people I enjoy. I do think there are better foodie spots to explore, but it is super popular and Instagramable.

Talk to me in the comments and let me know if you’ve been to Catch LA? Did you like it? Thanks for reading and I’ll see you Thursday!

Oh the food we will eat…Mario’s Place

For a little date night we decided to take a hop, skip, and jump over to Riverside.

I had been craving pasta for a bit now so we decided on Italian. Hubby found the place and made the reservation.

IMG-20200202-WA0017

We were seated immediately upon arrival. On Yelp the attire recommended was California casual. If you don’t know it just means some are usually casual and some are super dressed. Being date night we had dressed up a little and I am so glad because so was everyone else there.

The restaurant was a lot more formal than either of us were thinking. White table cloths and prettily folded napkins greeted us at our candle lit table.

IMG-20200202-WA0027

I had glanced through photos on Yelp and saw some items that were popular. We had already decided to skip apps to save room for a pasta dish and a pizza.

Our final decision ended up being the mushroom ravioli and their pizza of the night-a red sauce, mozz cheese, cauliflower, sausage creation.

After we ordered we were brought this beautiful bread-warm, crusty outside and oh so soft inside. It came with butter at the most perfect temp. Super easy to spread without being overly melty.

IMG-20200202-WA0025

Since we don’t eat sausage we got the ‘za sans sausage. Even though it ended up being a cheese pizza with cauliflower it was a very delicious pizza with cauliflower.

IMG-20200202-WA0009

The sauce was savory, the cheese had good pull, the chilli flakes added some heat and the cauliflower added a nice textural change. We each had one slice and decided to dig into the pasta.

The mushroom ravioli was swimming in cream sauce and porcini mushrooms. It had a nice heap of shaved parm on top too.

IMG-20200202-WA0021

The ravioli was filled with the most savory mushroom filling. The sauce was creamy, but not overly so and very well seasoned. The mushrooms added a nice meaty texture and flavor.

I’m not big into white sauce pizza or pasta but this pasta has me rethinking all of that!

We ended up taking the rest of the pizza home since we were so full from the pasta. Not to worry…I ate every last slice over the period of a week πŸ˜‰

We had a lovely time at Mario’s place. If you happen to live in or near Riverside it’s a great little spot for a date night!

Treat Review

We LOVE treats in this house and a majority of the posts that I do contain some sort of treat because it makes my heart happy. I thought a fun way to share some treats from the past month would be to do a little review.

Let’s start with this cereal pie from Pie Hole. If I’m being completely honest neither of us are big into pie, but this was more like a cheesecake with fruity cereal mixed into the cheesecake batter. I have no complaints and would give this a 5/5 stars!

IMG-20200109-WA0012

You guys know how obsessed I have been with Baked and how much I love their treats. When I saw this ube brownie I needed to try it out so that is what we did. This is 3/5 stars because this felt more like a cake in texture than a brownie. The flavor was a yummy, mild ube flavor but I was expecting chewy fudgy brownie and this was not that.

IMG-20200109-WA0014

After our outrageous Reeses apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory we knew we needed to try out their other sweets. We had high expectations for this chocolate caramel covered marshmallow. I was imagining milk chocolate with creamy caramel and fluffy marshmallow, but instead it was milk chocolate with hard, crunchy caramel and not much marshmallow. Rating? 3/5

IMG-20200109-WA0007

An extreme high note from Rocky Mountain was this concoction called an “avalanche.” It’s Rice Krispy cereal mixed with peanut butter and marshmallow and topped with little mini chocolate chips. This was one of my favorite things of life. I rate this a million/5 πŸ˜€

IMG-20200109-WA0008

I’m planning on doing these every now and then just because I enjoy reading them and I find them helpful. Let me know what you guys think!

Also, what are some of your favorite treats?

Oh the food we will eat…Pikunico

One of the blessings of living close to LA is that when you hear about a food spot on YouTube or TV it’s close enough to drive to go and check it out.

We are big fans of Worth It on YouTube and recently they had a show about fried chicken sandwiches. One of the spots they talked about was Pikunico and the way they described this sandwich and the way it looked had us drooling!

IMG-20200105-WA0014

We were in OK at the time, but we made plans that when we got back from our trip we would be trying this place out. We arrived on a Friday night to find it pretty empty minus a few people. We had to order the Golden Chicken Sandwich so we did along with the salad sampler and fingerling fries.

The salad sampler had their 3 salads that were fresh and delicious, but I could easily skip next time. The broccoli and beet were my favorite out of the three.

IMG-20200105-WA0007

The fingerling potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside. These were seasoned really well with salt and negi!

The sandwich was the star of the show. The bun was a golden turmeric bun with pickled daikon, watercress, sprouts, lemon aioli, jalapeno, and miso jam. The chicken was dark meat and fried to a delicious crispiness.Β All of these ingredients came together to create the most incredible melody of salt, fat, acid, and heat (love that docuseries)!

IMG-20200105-WA0015

This was one of our favorite chicken sandwiches and definitely one of the more complex, in terms of flavor. I highly recommend Pikunico if you ever get a chance to try it! Get the chicken sandwich and fingerling potatoes πŸ™‚

Do you have a favorite chicken sandwich? Also has anyone had the Popeye’s? What’s the hype?

New Food, New Places

There have been quite a few restaurants or foods we’ve wanted to try but the timing never seemed to work out or our tastebuds changed last minute and it seemed like something that would never happen until recently.

This first one may seem kinda silly, but since coming to California I have wanted to try California Pizza Kitchen. I know it’s not just in California, but it seemed fitting to try it in the place it’s named after. We took a leap of faith and ordered a margherita and a California veggie (subbing the corn for olives).

IMG-20191201-WA0009

The margherita came on their thin and crispy crust while the California veggie was on their regular crust (I think). I definitely enjoyed the regular crust more than the thin crust. This is mostly because I feel like the thin crust here is like a cracker crust and I am not a fan of that! In terms of flavor I did not enjoy the eggplant in the veggie. I may be crazy, but I felt like it had a fishy flavor from it.

Overall, I don’t think we’ll be revisiting CPK, but maybe we didn’t get the right things? Let us know if that’s true and we may have to go back and check it out at some point πŸ™‚

This next item isn’t something that was on my list to try until I spotted it and got it for B’s birthday. This guy LOVES Reese’s PB cups and he LOVES PB and LOVES PB/chocolate anything. His eyes light up anytime he sees that combination anywhere (ice-cream store, donut shop, etc). When I saw Jessie’s Nutty Cups online-it felt like a hallelujah moment. I got an assorted 8 pack.

IMG-20191130-WA0002

I was excited about these, but not as excited as B was and they sadly fell a little flat. They didn’t hold together when you bit into it and although it was fun to try out all the flavors it’s not something I would recommend to a true PB cup enthusiast.

The Nutty Cups were a total win compared to this next little bakery spot: Paris Pastries. The display case of little cakes and meringues totally did me in and we had to pick up a few things, but you guys, these were SO BAD. Out of the 4 items we purchased NONE of them were good. I was super sad, but got over it pretty quickly. We will not be revisiting!

Now that we’ve gone through some fails, let’s perk this post up and talk about some wins!

I’ve never had a caramel/candy apple. I’ve also never had a burning desire to have one until recently when walking by Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and seeing their apple monstrosities. Have you guys seen these? They have the basic apples, but then they have the super pimped out apples that are larger than my face! I needed one and of course we had to go for the Reeses coated version.

IMG-20191130-WA0014

We had the lady slice it in store and when we got home and opened the bag we had quite the surprise. There was so much coating still on the apples, but a large amount had fallen off and was sitting in the paper basket. I could not believe that all this peanut butter cup goodness had been layered onto one apple!

IMG-20191130-WA0015

Needless to say this was absolutely amazing. It totally makes my apple dipped in PB look like child’s play!

The Hat is apparently a San Bernardino County institution and they serve pastrami dip sandwiches. The spot has old school diner vibes and serves food in large portions. We knew this coming in and ordered their famous pastrami dip and a “small fry.” The “small fry” was placed in a fry container, but it was almost like the carton was an after thought because the fries filled the bag almost a quarter of the way up.

IMG-20191201-WA0002

The pastrami was served in a super soft bread spread with mustard and a hefty amount of pastrami topped with pickles. I really enjoyed this sandwich in all it’s savoriness. I can see why people love this place so much. When we went it was filled with families and older couples-it was definitely a jump back in time.

IMG-20191201-WA0004

After the Hat we walked around thinking about having something sweet. We thought through a few places and couldn’t decide until we remembered Baked. It’s been a spot that we had gone into, but never tried anything from. Since we were in that “try something new” mood we figured it would be the perfect day. We ordered for mini cupcakes-a s’mores, nutella, ube flan, and a dulce de leche.

We enjoyed the ube flan and dulce de leche the most, but they were all super yummy! This bakery has some Filipino flavors embedded into their baked goods and I am here for it. I will definitely be back when I am in that cupcake mood to get some of their larger cupcakes…or maybe I’ll get a bunch of the minis again. You guys know how I love trying little bits of everything πŸ˜€

Even though some of these spots/items ended up being a fail I really enjoyed trying them out. I find it super easy to get into a routine and stay there whether it’s with a workout, food, or just life so it’s nice to switch it up every once in a while. Stepping out of my comfort zone (even if that’s just with CPK) gets me a little more comfortable with trying other things when those opportunities open up.

What is something new you have tried whether it’s a food, workout, event, anything? Let me know in the comments below!

P.S. I was super serious about your CPK suggestions if you are a CPK lover. Let me know what you love!

Happy Monday-ing you guys!

Trader Joe’s Treats Review

We absolutely love Trader Joe’s all year round but the seasonal stuff really gets us giddy. I cannot tell you how many videos I’ve watched and blog posts I’ve read hauling and reviewing Trader Joe’s goodies this season-it’s definitely been an obsession.

Over Thanksgiving break we had hauled quite a few goodies from Trader Joe’s to try out for ourselves and since I love posts like these I figured I would share our thoughts πŸ™‚

Jumping into our first item are the Apple Cider Cake Donuts. These were coated in cinnamon sugar on the outside which would lead you to believe they may fall in the too sweet category, but these were very mild in sweetness. In terms of texture this fell on the dryer side of things, but not in an unpleasant way. I wasn’t reaching for water with every bite, but maybe every few bites? We really enjoyed these, but I don’t think they would be a staple in our house.

IMG-20191130-WA0001

The Danish Kringle in almond was something we had no idea what to expect. I knew it was a pastry and people absolutely love it, but we aren’t big pastry people (usually). THIS though was fantastic. The almond paste filling was super nice if you enjoy the flavor-if you don’t then stay away! I will also say this was SUPER sweet between the filling and the icing on top. We tried warming a piece in the microwave and in the toaster oven. The toaster oven definitely had the better texture, but be careful because the icing becomes super hot super fast.

Steering away from the sweets for a minute to check out these Cornbread Poppers. These were filled with pepperjack cheese and serrano chilis, but they are by no means spicy in any way. The outside was a cornbread with the inside filling being a gooey cheese, but when I got these I had assumed it would be a cornbread ball that had cheese and serrano chilis mixed in. Because it wasn’t that I think I was a bit disappointed, but overall these were pretty yummy.

IMG-20191130-WA0010

The Soft Baked Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies are something we had been eying for a long time. I had one cookie from this and hubby finished the pack so it’s probably safe to say I thought they were fine and he LOVED them. These are super peanut-buttery in flavor and the chocolate chips felt a bit like an afterthought. If you love peanut butter cookies you will definitely enjoy these!

Staying in the cookie category this next purchase was an impulse buy. We were in line waiting to check out when we saw the customer next to us had these in her basket. Thank God TJ’s isn’t a big store because I was able to speed walk there and back in good time to check out. All that being said, these were a fail for us. I am not a big fan of crispy cookies and that is what all of these were. In my head I was imagining a variety of butter cookies, but I definitely should have looked at the images a bit closer. As I always say after one of these incidents, “at least now we know!”

The last item are these Ridge Cut Potato Chips with Horseradish and Chive. These were nice and crunchy, but not as crunchy as a kettle chip. In terms of flavor they are very similar to a sour cream and onion with a hint of horseradish. I feel like horseradish lovers and those who aren’t horseradish fans would enjoy these. I know hubby thought these were just okay, but I’ll probably have some with sandwiches and finish off the bag. The combination of us not buying chips often enough and there being a large amount of chips in the world to try I can say safely we probably won’t be rebuying these.

IMG-20191130-WA0025

If you stuck it out this long thank you so much and I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it! I know all these items weren’t seasonal, but what are some of your current favorite Trader Joe’s goodies (seasonal or not)?

Have a great week and happy Monday!

Oh the food we will eat…Citrus Kitchen

During the week we’ve been really trying to cook at home and it’s been working out well for how busy we’ve been and for our budget! That being said we needed a little change up and by we, I mean me. My sweet hubs would eat salmon and roasted veggies every night or be perfectly content making one of his chicken concoctions. I love that man!

Sadly for him, I cannot, but we were both excited to discover Citrus Kitchen. They make healthy meals with proteins and veggies and will even make you meals for the week. I love that they offer a couple of different kinds of seasonings for your proteins, a good selection of sauces, and a nice variety of sides. I also like that they are vegetarian friendly and offer tofu for those that don’t eat meat.

20191003_184640

We had somewhat of an idea of what we wanted when we walked in, but our minds were totally changed upon sampling their adobo chicken. It was flavorful and saucy and reminded us of home cooking!

We went for the adobo chicken and cajun salmon for our proteins. Since we got meal versions of those we got to pick 2 sides to go with them. We chose butternut squash, garlic potatoes, couscous, and steamed veggies.

20191003_185709

Once we got our meals we honestly couldn’t stop eating…I mean we barely said two words to each other while inhaling this meal. That’s a big deal for me! I can talk through basically anything!

The salmon was crispy and succulent and very well seasoned. My favorite side was the couscous and hubs enjoyed the squash. The stars of the meal were definitely the proteins and I can honestly say we will be back. These meals can be as light or as heavy as you need them to be and seem to work for whatever nutrient needs you may have.

20191003_185715

I doubt we’ll do any meal prep stuff with them, but for a quick and nutrient dense meal out this would be a good spot!

After dinner we needed something sweet so we ended our night with Handel’s ice-cream. They have a Thursday special of $1.35 for a scoop so we were excited about that. I got a blueberry crumble and the hubs got a chocolate peanut butter something or other.

It was a successful night of eating to say the least!

Have you guys tried any meal prep places? What did you think?

Kodiak Cakes Review

Good morning everybody!

Today, I am bringing you a review of the Kodiak Cakes Protein-Packed Power Flapjacks in the buttermilk flavor. Phewww that was a mouthful!

20190812_091442

I love finding more nutrient dense options of the things I already love and eat. I used to get the Kodiak Cakes pancake mix and make it myself, but these seemed like a great option for people who are super busy and need a quick breakfast or even just something easy to make at work with a microwave.

I enjoy pancakes and waffles, but I get full fast so I have a hard time having both pancakes and something else to make sure I get protein. If I just have a waffle or pancake I tend to be hungry again in about an hour or so. Nobody got time for that, so I wanted pancakes that had some protein to keep me fuller for longer.

20190812_100138

When you open the box they have already packaged up each serving size to help make it easy if you do need to pack it up for work because you can just throw it in your lunch bag. The con here is that it’s not environmentally friendly…

20190812_100313

3 in each package…

Of course, it doesn’t matter how quickly you can make it or how much protein it has if it doesn’t taste good. Thankfully, this tastes like pancakes, but the texture is a little on the drier end of the spectrum. I don’t mind because I spread creamy peanut butter on and dip it in maple syrup, but if you’re planning on eating it plain just know it’s dry so bring almond milk to drink.

I liked these and will probably repurchase as a good option to take to work or have on a busy morning. If you have tried these frozen pancakes or the Kodiak Cake mix let me know what you thought in the comments below! Thanks for reading!

Oh the food we will eat…The State

During our move in week in order to get some sanity we decided to do a little date night. We went and saw a movie and happened to make in time for the happy hour menu (which is apparently all day on Monday).

It was such a beautiful day we decided to sit outside and take in the weather. After perusing the menu we decided on the Brussels sprouts, short rib tacos, and a burger.

I really loved the Brussels-the crispy, crunchy, charred pieces are always my favorite and that dollop of goat cheese on top rounded it all out and added that much needed creamy tang.

20190701_194624

The husband really loved the short rib tacos. Besides looking beautiful (those colors!) these were meaty and fresh and crunchy and wonderful!

20190701_194628

The burger was a wonderful cheeseburger of sorts and it did end up falling apart towards the end, but it was worth the mess. The salad on the side was really pretty and a good standard salad-nothing to write home about!

20190701_195544

20190701_195548

We headed out for frozen yogurt after this, but really enjoyed our experience at The State. Since our whole order was off the happy hour menu the whole thing ended up being under $30? That’s a pretty cheap date night πŸ™‚

What’s your favorite date night spot?
