Life After NY

We woke up dark and early to catch a Lyft to JFK. Speaking of JFK, what a great airport! I don’t know if it was the time or day of the week that we were there or what, but it was so mellow and there was barely a line-very unLAX.

We grabbed some breakfast and headed to our gate. We could only find Dunkin’ Donuts so I got a egg white veggie sandwich and hash browns and hubs got an everything bagel and cream cheese. I don’t think he was quite ready to let go πŸ˜€ We also got a strawberry glazed donut with sprinkles to share!

We hopped on the plane and had a really lovely 5 hour trip back to LA. I really enjoyed the snack box they gave us that had Chobani vanilla yogurt, granola, apple slices and this flat blueberry muffin thing. I loved that muffin and wish I could figure out where they sold it!

We arrived in LA at 10:50am (nothing like gaining a few hours back) and had all the intentions of going to the beach, but we were exhausted! We instead went to see if we could get movie tickets to Avengers: Endgame and get Chick-fil-a to eat at the park.

We did both and were very pleased with ourselves. After we arrived at home we unpacked, threw in laundry, showered and who knows what else before heading out to Endgame.

It was a 3 hour movie and holy cow was it the movie of all movies! If you’re an Avengers fan…you’ve probably already seen it!

We went home and grabbed some TBell for babes and In n’ Out for me. We had also planned it out and grabbed cake and a cookie from Susie Cakes!

Friday morning we woke up and headed out to our first gym session since Philly. It felt good to be in the gym! I was so hungry after this session and we came up with a breakfast plan.

Yogurt with granola and honey plus a shared PB and banana sandwich!

20190426_114720

We had reserved tickets for The Broad for when we got back from our trip and so we showered up and headed out. The Broad was incredibly cool and saw some really interesting pieces.

20190426_143319

I guess neither of us were ready to let go of NY quite yet because we headed to Langer’s for pastrami sandwiches. We shared a sandwich which was great because each half could have been one sandwich.

20190426_15285920190426_153727

This was a really great sandwich! It was meaty and vinegary from the kraut and mustard…all the good things!

Having not been to Century City in a minute we headed over to check out some stores and grab a little sweet treat from Shake Shack- their strawberry shake.

20190426_173538

After wandering around and finding a skirt we headed off to a free comedy night at a pizza shop we had also been wanting to check out #notreadytoletgoofNY

20190426_195139

We shared a pie and enjoyed some comedy! Can you tell how much we really enjoy comedy?

We picked up some cake on the way home, but by the time we got home we were too exhausted to even bother. Sleep really took the cake πŸ˜‰

Saturday morning was for all the tidying up and touch ups. Since we’re moving, we’re going to be putting our house on sale so we had some decluttering to do before pictures. We spend most of the morning doing this, but before that we had to gather supplies and give ourselves some fuel.

That fuel came in the form of Pascal Patisserie. We got the breakfast burrito (my fave) and the carne asada sandwich (B’s fave). When we got home we had some cake! We finished up our tasks and cleaned up for yet another comedy show…we have a problem…

20190427_16145020190427_161456

20190427_163412

We were planning on going out for dinner, but neither of us were feeling like it so we picked up some Panang curry from Jasmine Thai. We had our second piece of cake after and called it a night!

Sunday was our last vacay day and we made the most of it by finishing up our stuff and going grocery shopping πŸ˜€ We also skipped the gym this morning and got breakfast from Pascal. We got a bagel (there’s that NY thing popping up again) and an omelet sandwich.

We also picked up a pistachio croissant and an almond chocolate croissant. We split the pistachio one and saved the almond chocolate.

20190428_102426

We went home after this and prepped for the week and finished tidying up. I started getting hungry later into the evening and so we figured we’d better grab dinner.

Which brings me to another thing we did again was pick upΒ Thai food from another place called Box Thai.

20190428_174039

We got dumplings, chicken satay, and an order of pad kee mao. It was SO good! We will definitely be back here for more Thai!

We ate the almond chocolate croissant for dessert and chilled out for the rest of the night! That concludes our vacation-definitely had some vacation blues, but we were both ready to get back to some normal eating!

Happy Monday everybody!! Here’s to a great week!

What do you do after vacation when you get home?

Staycation

The hubs and I had a week off together and instead of flying out somewhere like we normally do we decided to stick around home and discover some places, food, things that we had not yet explored in LA.

The night (Tuesday night) we made our steak dinner from Sun Basket we went to a comedy show. We love comedy and there’s plenty of it in LA. We love the Comedy Store, but are definitely going to be trying some other spots.

20190108_171542

While there we indulged in this soft pretzel with mustard and since we had an early dinner so we could make it to the show we had hot slices of pizza from Vitos afterwards πŸ™‚

20190108_20071920190108_215145

On Wednesday we woke up and worked out at the gym. We had some errands to run which included grabbing bagels and printing our tickets for Universal. We did all of that and made it home, showered, and headed out.

Once we arrived at City Walk I knew I wanted to try Voodoo Donuts. We got their mango jam filled donut with tang dusted on top! B loved it and I thought it was okay-the Tang made it super tart.

20190109_142322

We arrived at Universal around 2pm and stayed till they closed that night at 6pm. Rides now vs rides when you were a kid are totally different. I was definitely nauseated after a couple…they were still fun πŸ™‚

Of course when we went to Harry Potter world we had to get some butter beer. We got the frozen version and boy was it sweet and delicious!

20190109_153844

I couldn’t believe how realistic they make it all seem and how cool the effects are! I did do a photoshoot with this snowman. Shout out to hubs for always indulging my ridiculousness!

20190109_174601

After a full day of being active and being cold we decided to go for some warm comfort food at home. We got takeout Thai from our favorite Thai Blvd Bistro and brought it home. We stuck with our classic favorites-Pad Thai and Panang curry.

20190109_194434

Before stopping for Thai food we had made a stop to grab dessert at Porto’s. We love this place and it’s so inexpensive!

Thursday we worked out and found a nice little area to walk. We ended up walking to a lunch spot, Blue Table, we had been to once before and split a turkey sandwich and a steak sandwich.

20190110_13100520190110_131019

The steak was the favorite!

We walked from there to a frozen yogurt shop and ended up walking around with our frozen treats. We eventually walked back to our car and drove home.

During this time the hubs had been working on making some sourdough. He created starter and he made us a couple of loaves during the break. You guys, sourdough bread warm out of the oven with butter? It is everything!

On Friday we did a hike and went to brunch at our favorite Leo and Lily’s. I got a turkey club and he got a Buffalo chicken sandwich. We split them and they both ended up being just okay! I don’t know if you can tell, but we really love our sandwiches πŸ™‚

20190111_13484820190111_134900

I think I will leave it off here because Saturday deserves it’s own post. We did a little food crawl around LA and it was super tasty πŸ˜‰

Do you guys enjoy staycations?

A few things I do to make life easier

In my 28 years of being alive I have learned a few things to keep my life running as smoothly as possible. By the end of this you may think I’m crazy, but I promise my house is not intensely organized as this may make it sound, but it keeps it organized enough that we know where everything is and it looks nice and neat πŸ˜‰

20180920_121306

1. I clean throughout the week. I can’t concentrate if things are a mess and so I try to keep up with the tidying as much as possible. For example I will do a quick sweep and vacuum, tidy up our vanity, wipe down the kitchen counter…small things that make a difference. Also this way you’re not stuck with a major cleaning job at the end of the week…that would drive me crazy!

2. I never throw clothes on the floor. Seriously, I have never done this unless I am creating piles to give away, throw away, sell, and keep. Even as a kid I’ve thrown dirty clothes in the hamper and clean clothes wherever they go. I think side note to this is that I do try to put things back where they belong at least by the end of the day.

20180920_121141

3. I get things together the night before. This could be for anything an interview, work, travel. For example let’s use work. I will prep my snack and lunch, fill up my water bottle, and get my scrubs out so I have to do as little thinking in the morning as possible.

20180920_121442

These are just a few of the things I do to keep myself sane, but they go a very long way!

A long time ago I remember B saying something about doing things now that you will thank yourself for later. I am a VERY strong advocate of this! It might be unpleasant or annoying in the moment, but I know I always thank my past self for having the insight to know myself enough to take care of things.

What do you guys do that you thank yourselves for later? Leave it in the comments!

Loving Lately

Hi Sweet Friends! Welcome back to another favorites post πŸ™‚ I’ve been loving a lot of things recently so I’ve been trying to break it up into some different posts so you don’t have to read a massive text book of the things I’ve been obsessed with!

I’ve been really diggin’ all the floral vibes and when I saw this bag at Aldo I couldn’t resist. Also, this store has become a problem for me-a problem in the sense I can’t seem to leave without buying something every time I go in. What’s wrong with me??

The bag can be crossbody, a wristlet, or you can carry it as a clutch which I love because I love having options.

20180723_120559

I discovered this next item on whim. I was standing in line at Trader Joe’s hungry (story of my life) and I saw this chocolate. I couldn’t resist and threw it into my basket and now here it is on my favorites list.

The chocolate is creamy and smooth, but the plethora of hazelnuts add crunch. If you love Hershey’s with almonds I think you’ll love this…the chocolate quality is better here too πŸ˜€

20180723_120307

I LOVE smelling good and good smells just make me so happy and if I could somehow photograph smelling good as a favorite I would, but I can’t so instead I’ve picked a couple of my favorite scents this summer.

These body sprays by VS smells fruity, floral and sweet. I’ve been spraying them on post shower, when I need to feel refreshed, and even at bedtime. I can’t tell you how delicious these smell!

20180723_120839

Last, but not least are fresh flowers. I’m not sure if I’ve ever talked about fresh flowers as a favorite, but I really love having them around the house. They just add a pop of color and can freshen up any vibe you’re going for.

20180722_084021

Do you love having fresh flowers? What’s your favorite chocolate currently? Talk to me friends and let me know!

Oklahoma

We recently made a trip to OKC and I am just getting around to putting up these posts (shmurp)! It was filled with a lot of family time and quite a few babies πŸ˜€ We had a great time!

We did workout while there and I had a lot of gas station coffee (which is actually pretty good there). We drank cherry limeades from Sonic and visited a few friends, but mostly we just sat around and talked and laughed and threw aluminum foil balls into trashcans.

The other thing we did a lot of was eat πŸ™‚ I definitely did not do a great job taking pictures, but hubby stepped in and took lots of great pictures. Thank the good Lord for him…imagine how bored you’d be reading about the delicious food I had with no pictures!

The best part of being home is having mom’s home made cooking-whether it’s my mom or my MIL the food is always delicious! We ended up having a little get together while there and my MIL made some yummy food…

There was chicken-grilled and flavorful

20180615_211128

Biriyani (rice, chicken, spices, etc) and a chickpea curry

20180615_211116

We had some salad (#health) and the orangey rice you’re seeing was one of the desserts.

20180615_211105

We also had fruit and naan and other dessert which we didn’t get pictures of, but I will continue to dream about and salivate over.

We had a really fun visit and we were sad when it was over, but it’s always nice to come home πŸ™‚

What’s your favorite part about visiting family and friends? Let me know in the comments!

Friday Faves

Hello sweet people!

Are you guys as ready for the weekend as I am? I am super ready, but before the weekend starts I thought I would bring you a few things I have kinda been liking hard.

This was a gift from the hubs parents when they visited us back in January and I just love it. I have super tiny wrists which make bracelets and watches hard to find and I just never like they way they look. This one has this beautiful gold and the strap is a lovely tan leather. I think it’s so pretty!

20180409_111605

You guys know the hubs gifted me with a Fab Fit Fun box for my birthday and it had this face cream in it. I honestly have been loving it! I have combination skin (normal on the parameter of my face and oily t-zone), but I don’t like matte anything. This is a light-weight lotion that does a great job at moisturizing and leaving my face with a lovely glowy finish.

20180409_111801

Easter is over and done, but I found this bowl and spoon and couldn’t help but buy it. I mean it is light pink and has ears and whiskers-how could I not buy it?? It’s supposed to be a dip bowl, but I will probably use it for cereal or ice-cream or something else.

20180409_110343

My last favorite is this make up mirror we had bought from Costco a few months ago. I wasn’t completely sold on it, but I can now say I am a fan. It’s really handy when both hubs and I need to shower because I can shower and do my makeup in the bedroom instead of hogging up the bathroom with makeup time.

20180409_111707

I know I always ask, but what have you lovelies been loving? Let me know in the comments below πŸ™‚

Currently Loving

Happy Friday friends! Do not despair, the weekend is almost here πŸ˜‰ and on that note I want to bring you another favorites post. Here are some things I haven’t been able to get enough of:

This water bottle was a gift and it was seriously THE best gift! It’s cute and it keeps my water COLD for what seems like ever and ever…and ever

20170901_144910

The hubs brought home these beautiful tulips and I had taken a pic and seeing it made me smile…that color is just gorgeous!

20170901_113004

These little bowls with the steaming lids are everything! They are the perfect size bowl for cereal or any type of bowl food and they have the loveliest colors and designs on them.

20170901_144759

This shelf was such a good find! We were out walking and decided to wander into a Good Will. We found this book shelf to fit perfectly by our couch so it could hold books/magazines, but also act as a sneaky side table!

What are you lovelies loving currently? Let me know down below πŸ™‚

Feeling the blues and eating cookies

It’s been a minute since I have brought a true favorites post to you and so here we are today discussing some of the things I have been loving!

We have a blue, light grey, white situation happening with our home so anytime I see anything blue/white I get super excited and decide I must have it. These kitchen towels were no exception!

20170812_133332

Sticking with the blue theme we were in Target when I spotted this throw. There was no price on it, but it was just so pretty and a nice, large size so I figured I would keep it unless it was some insane price. Guys! Guess how much? $5.98. Seriously. I couldn’t find another one anywhere in the store, but I am so glad that I found this one!

20170812_133452

I have a couple of movie favorites (finally catching up with all the movies)! The first being Wonder Woman…I just loved this movie so much. The other being Atomic Blonde. I love me a good superhero movie and it was all the sweeter to see some strong female leads. They both had a good story line and there was plenty of action (and gore in Atomic Blonde). I would totally recommend both of these if you haven’t seen them!

Now for the moment we have all been waiting for (ahem, I have been waiting for)-the cookies. You guys. These cookies are so freaking good. I have no idea how I have been so blind the them for so long. These are the cookie butter cookies from Trader Joe’s. The cookies are rich, buttery butter cookies and the filling is the famous cookie butter. Where have these been my whole life??

20170813_110545

That concludes my favorites post! If you need me you can find me on the couch drinking green juice and eating these cookies #balance

Ikea…My Storage Hero

You probably don’t know this, but we have moved πŸ™‚ That is, of course, total sarcasm! I feel like I’ve written a lot of posts on moving and painting and furnituring. Anyways, our new home doesn’t have too much in the way of storage so we have had to get a tad creative with our space.

Ikea has been our go-to place to find some cute ways to stash our things. We’ve also been using crates and baskets to keep everything looking neat and tidy!Β Having a bunch of stuff laying out drives me a tad crazy so you could say that the crates have been helping me keep my sanity πŸ˜€

Let’s move on to all the things:

This little nook is actually at the entrance of our home and I kinda love it. The coat/purse rack you are seeing is from Ikea and I am planning on getting a couple more for our closet. I’ve always wanted a place to hang all my bags and I think this will do wonderfully. Since it is also in the picture the mirror is from Home Goods and the key hook is from Target.

20170716_093902-1

Yes that is a gold frame leaning against our staircase…long story short, it was a part of the light fixture in our kitchen. The hubs decided to take it all down! This grey piece was supposed to go in the entryway, but ended up being too big. We opted for the area in our staircase. We are using it as the catch all table. We’ve hidden some random rubber bands and sticky notes in the drawers and no-one’s the wiser.

20170716_093524

Let me start by saying that this thing is MASSIVE! Our initial plan was to get one that had wider sides, but they didn’t have all the pieces. Well thank the good Lord for that because Β this “smaller” one fits a LOT better in our space. I love the farmhouse vibes it gives me πŸ™‚

20170716_093820

I love beverages and this utility cart from Ikea has become the thing that holds all our beloved drinks! It’s cute, has wheels, and gives us plenty of hydration…what more could one girl ask for?

20170716_093622

Gray shelving unit to hold all of our sweets and snacks. It’s the perfect size and I love the minimalistic openness of the whole thing. We got all three of the bigger crates from Ross and the two at the top are from Target!

20170716_093719

I’ve been really enjoying seeing this house become our home. It hasn’t been the smoothest of rides, but we are putting a lot of love into this place and it’s rewarding to see it become ours.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know in the comments what some of your favorite Ikea finds are. Have a gorgeous weekend lovelies!

Home Favorites

I think my favorite part of the moving process has to be shopping for home items. Target has always been a bestie, but now that list has grown to include Home Goods, Ross, Ikea and so on. I wanted to share with you a few finds that I am just loving!

These coasters. I just think they are so beautiful!

20170708_105013

Salt and pepper shakers from Target. We didn’t need them, but they just were going to go so well with the rest of the house so how could we not?!?

20170708_105039

A fruit bowl. We didn’t have one (we had been using a colander) so this was a great find at Home Goods πŸ™‚

20170708_110531

This crate. It’s been great for stashing away cups and bowls so everything looks nice and neat.

20170708_105115

What are some of your favorite items that you have in your home?
