Labor Day Weekend

The only thing I love more than a good relaxing weekend is a good relaxing weekend of good eats!

I actually have some eats from the week mixed in because good food is good food no matter when you eat it. Also, I think my brain is tired so forgive me if I say some off the wall things in this post πŸ™‚

On Tuesday I had this simple breakfast of egg frittata from Trader Joes, a waffle and some blackberries. The egg frittata has been compared to the Starbuck’s sous vide egg bites, but this was not my favorite on it’s own. I did put it in a tortilla later in the week with some cheese and enjoyed it MUCH more that way.

For dinner that night we had some leftover ground beef so hubby whipped up some burgers and we are still on the carrot fries kick!

Fast forward to Thursday night our Gobble box arrived. Since we both had work and hubs actually had to work late we made a dish from the box on Friday night: Souvlaki marinated salmon…I’ll do a whole post about this later on this week!

Saturday morning included workouts and grocery shopping! I was starving and decided to pick up a turkey pesto sandwich from Sprout’s. Sometimes a sandwich and some potato chips just hits the spot and it deffo did…noms! I was only able to eat half the sammie and half the chips before I was full.

We made an early dinner (linner, really) of the baked eggs in channa masala from Gobble before hubby had to head out to a work thing. I ended up hanging out and binging on all the reality TV on Hulu.

It was a little past 10:30pm when he was heading home and I was feeling the hungers again and Blaze sounded like a great idea so we picked me up a simple pie. I ate the whole things minus 2 slices. The hubs ate one of those….

20190831_225522

I ate the last slice with some tomatoes the next day (banana for dessert)!

Sunday was our first full day off together so we made the most of it and headed to Santa Monica. I really wanted Sidecar Doughnuts and went for their yeast glazed doughnut. They are just so good! You can’t go wrong with this place.

20190901_144239

We were both pretty tired as we walked around so we decided to grab a snack. I’m normally not an energy drink person, but I just felt like the day called for it. I saw this Alani Nu in Hawaiian shaved ice and felt like it sounded so incredible. The hubs found some gummies.

20190901_152710

The energy drink was DELISH! LOVED IT! The gummies were not great, BUT hubby totally enjoyed them. He loved them so much he bought a few more the next day!

We picked up a few baked goods and headed home to make some burgers (we have a serious problem with burgers).

20190901_192127

Burgers-delicious! Sadly dessert did not go as well…we had stopped by Milk Bar and Alcove. The cookie and birthday cake truffles from Milk Bar were good, but for whatever reason the cakes from Alcove were not.

20190901_193451

Alcove has been our go to cake spot and we were a bit bummed, but what is a girl to do?

The next day we did some more grocery shopping for the week and made our last Gobble dinner. It was a honey harissa shrimp dish!

We finished up any left over dessert and called it a weekend!

How was your LDW? Let me know in the comments what you guys did!

Happy Labor Day!

Happy Monday and Happy Labor Day!

I love a good long weekend even if I don’t always get to participate (I do this time)! I hope you are all having a great weekend and start to the week. I am working on a couple of posts from this past weekend and those will probably be going up next week πŸ™‚

Until then, enjoy this picture of a lunch I had! And yes, that lovely blob are sardines, and yes they don’t picture great, BUT they sure did make a yummy lettuce wrap πŸ˜‰

Enjoy the day and let me know in the comments what you guys got up to!

V-Day Weekending

As much as I would have LOVED to get this post out on Monday life and work tend to get in the way of well intentioned plans soooo….here we are on Thursday talking about what the hubs and I got up to this past weekend!

I got a serious hankering for BJ’s buffalo chicken pizza on Friday so when B got home we compromised and got half buffalo chicken and half bbq chicken-we DEVOURED this pizza!

20190215_204533

Knowing how much I obsessed I am with food and how much I love dessert B had ordered some cookies for us from PDX Cookie Co. He ordered their variety pack which arrived just in time for our V-Day weekend! I am not kidding when I tell you these cookies were seriously packed with all the goodies and were super delicious…also, super incredible warmed up!

Pizza and cookies=great start to any weekend? Amiright?

Saturday we woke up, had coffee, and headed to the gym! Post workout we had plans to head over to the mall and finally combine our phone plans to one carrier (we’ve been married for almost 3 years now-it was time). This is a task I had been dreading, but it went so smoothly that I kept talking about how easy and wonderful the process was.

After all this excitement we went home and I ate the lonely slice of BBQ chicken pizza that was left from Friday night πŸ™‚

The rest of the day was spend running errands, perusing through our favorite mall and figuring out what we should do for dinner. We had very well intentioned plans to have dinner at a Brazilian Steakhouse. I had made reservations in advance and we were really excited about the whole thing until we got to the day of the reservation. Suddenly, we wanted everything but steak…anybody else have this dilemma?

We went back and forth on a few options until deciding on Rosie’s BBQ. We ordered a beef rib each, their Nashville hot chicken sandwich, and a side of their baked fries. Sadly I got pictures of none of our dinner on Saturday night so I am very sorry about that 😦

Their was nothing Nashville hot about this chicken sandwich. It was a pretty sad chicken sandwich at that. It was this super thin chicken patty that had absolutely no spice. I turned to hubby and wondered if they had messed up our order…who knows?

The beef ribs were yummy per usual and the fries were the star of the show. They were fat wedge type fries which I normally do not like, but these were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They were seasoned so perfectly! LOVED these fries!

We had more cookies for dessert πŸ™‚

We woke up Sunday morning and did some grocery shopping for the week. We then took a brisk walk around our neighborhood since we were not planning on heading to the gym. Snacked a bit before heading out to a super late lunch/very early dinner situation with our friends.

Before meeting up with the friends we explored Olvera Street and Union Station. It was super cool to check out the vendors at Olvera Street. The sights and smells were incredible and overwhelming. I didn’t know where to look!

We made one last quick stop at Fugetsu Do for a couple of pieces of mochi. If you haven’t been here or tried their sweet creations you absolutely need to. Their mochi is so soft and incredible. We got a red bean and a blueberry Β mochi for dessert!

20190217_195215

I had been wanting to check out Bun Shop for a minute and figured this would be a good excuse to try out their baos. I had a spicy chicken bao and a beef bao. Hubs had the same and we shared some of their Yoshi fries.

20190217_164318

I definitely preferred the beef bao. It had a fried onion on top of it which added a nice crunchy texture to the soft meaty bun. I do wish the buns themselves held together a bit better-they were both split on the bottom which made it a little difficult to eat. The fries were really yummy with the addition of the furikake seasoning!

After spending a good amount of time catching up we all went our separate ways, but before the hubs and I went home we made one last stop at 85 Degrees. I think we both were craving the milk buns, but got a couple of other treats too πŸ™‚

20190217_185207

We made it home with time to watch some Netflix before bed! It wasn’t the most traditional V-Day weekend, but as long as we are spending time together we are pretty happy! I hope you all had a lovely V-Day weekend!!

What did you guys do this past weekend?

It’s Valentine’s

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I know people either love the day or hate it, but I think it’s kinda sweet to have a day to celebrate people you love-whether it’s your family, friends, pets or significant other! I’m not upset about the chocolate and candy either πŸ˜‰

img-20190113-wa0002

I also had to shout out my Valentine for making my heart pitter patter and loving me at my hangriest, tiredest, most awful moments! You’re pretty awesome sauce (does anyone say that still?)! I love you always!

What are you guys doing for Valentine’s weekend? Talk to me in the comments!

Happy New Year!!

Here we are in the New Year! It’s officially 2019!!

20181218_140137

I feel incredibly blessed and happy about all the things 2018 brought and excited to see where 2019 will take us. We have a few things planned and a few things left to find out.

I know under few things planned we have trips coming up and I can’t wait to share those with you guys! We love exploring and eating our way through new places so I am looking forward to making new discoveries.

I don’t have any new resolutions I am starting…it’s usually the same mantra-live more, love more, laugh more. That entails all the things that mean the most to me: being active, being around people I love and enjoying all the big and little moments.

I wish you guys the happiest of New Years!

Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?

It’s beginning to look a lot like…

Okay, we live in southern CA so it’s not exactly a white Christmas situation happening, but I have been living for and loving all the lights and festivities that this time of year brings!

20181218_131436

I cannot believe that tomorrow is Christmas and I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone by! I feel like we were just in January and now it’s almost the end of the holiday season and the beginning of another year…what the heck?!

I’m working the next couple of days, but I love my job and I knew when I started down this path I would miss some weekends and holidays. It honestly does make the moments I have together with friends and family all the sweeter πŸ™‚

I hope you are all having a lovely holiday season and will be celebrating with the people that mean the most to you!

Just out of curiosity, which holiday is your favorite?

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy V-Day to this cutie and all of you! I hope you are spending it with the one you love oooor if you’re working like us don’t forget to send some love through a call, text, email, DM, a smoke signal, whatever it may be πŸ™‚

I just wanted to take time today to let you guys know I appreciate you taking the time to read the blog and send you some love and hugs!! Y’all are the best!

Enjoy the day and I’ll see you Friday!

Happy, Happy New Year

2017 has been a year filled with ups and downs, but if I’m being completely honest it has mostly been ups. It’s mostly due to the fact my better half is the bestest human on the planet πŸ™‚

IMG-20171123-WA0002

We are so thankful for all the good, and looking back, also for the bad. I’ve loved 2017 and I am so excited to see what 2018 holds.

Here’s to hoping that 2018 is filled with love, laughter, and lotsa cookies πŸ˜‰
