Vacation Recap

Happy Thursday!

It might be a good idea for you guys to grab a snack and sit down for this post because it may run a little long. I’m going to try to recap a whole week into one “quick-ish” post πŸ˜€

Our vacation started with a drive out to Phoenix. It ended up being a quick drive with just one pit stop for gas, bathroom, and breakfast. We kept it pretty chill the day we arrived and explored the area we were staying as well as an outdoor mall.

20200229_061019

There was a vegan festival going on so that was our plan for dinner but sadly it ended at 5pm and we missed it. We ended up going to Old Town Scottsdale to try to find some dinner. It being dinner time and the weather being nice the wait everywhere was pretty crazy. After much craziness we put our names down at Rehab Burger and walked around.

We grabbed some apps/snacks from another restaurant to hold us over. Nothing super exciting. Hummus/pita and chips/salsa held us over until we were finally called to our table.

This burger place was FANTASTIC. You must check it out if you’re in the area. The hubs and I shared a poblano burger without the cheese and just a basic cheeseburger and both were fantastic. I can’t tell you how much I couldn’t stop talking about this place. It was absolutely worth the wait!

The next day hub’s cousin had planned a day in Sedona which is 90ish minutes away from Phoenix. Sedona was so gorgeous and freezing! We explored a church and some areas with these cute local stores. While there we found some treats to try and shared this frozen chocolate covered cheesecake.

We grabbed some apps at a local vegan place before heading back home.

IMG-20200307-WA0076IMG-20200307-WA0077IMG-20200307-WA0082

That night the fam surprised me with an ice-cream cake and singing! I died! It was so sweet (the singing and the cake) πŸ™‚

Monday March 2nd we woke up and had our last workout in Phoenix before showering and getting ready to head back to good ol’ California. Our drive, thankfully again, was not bad and we made it home around 3/4pm. This was basically a good recovery day. We threw in laundry from the trip and got a few groceries, a Red Box, and picked up the Habit for dinner.

IMG-20200307-WA0120

Tuesday March 3rd we worked out and headed to Disneyland! You guys after living in SoCal for 3.5 years we still had never been and I was SO excited. I think we got there around 2pm and left around 8:30pm. A lot of walking but we are totally all about that.

IMG-20200307-WA0029

IMG-20200307-WA0103IMG-20200307-WA0108IMG-20200307-WA0112

To say it was magical would be an understatement. I think we were both overwhelmed by all of the things. After entering the park we realized a parade was about to start so had to stop and see that. We also stopped and got some refreshments-a turkey leg and a churro. After a few rides we got some of the Mickey beignets! Everything was delicious!

We were so exhausted by the time we left but had a ton of fun!

Wednesday March 4th we headed to Disney’s Adventure Land. This day didn’t go as well sadly…once we arrived I saw that they had this crazy water ride that was just about to open as we were walking up. I didn’t realize how wet we would get and we hopped on and got completely soaked. The rest of our time was spend with completely soaked shoes and socks. We were so cold after the sunset and miserable! We did see Frozen and walked around, but couldn’t handle it anymore and left after a few hours.

IMG-20200307-WA0033

Thursday March 5th was the birthday and I wanted to keep it pretty chill after all the go, go, go! I opened up presents from the hubs and that night I wanted some wings so we went to Fire Wings. They were delicious!

IMG-20200307-WA0042

Friday March 6th we ran some errands and headed out to LA to have dinner with a friend from out of town. She wanted to check out Catch LA! The place was so gorgeous! The food was super tasty and I can’t wait to share more about it on a later post πŸ˜‰

IMG-20200307-WA0013

Saturday March 7th we went for a hike and finished up some grocery shopping for the upcoming week. We stayed closer to home and had AYCE sushi at Sushi Martini for dinner with a friend!

IMG-20200308-WA0005

We did stop by Cheesecake for the chocolate tower truffle cake and the chocolate fudge cake. They got the order wrong and gave us a fudge cake and a lemon mascarpone cake but no chocolate tower. Hubby went back to return the lemon mascarpone and they ended up letting him keep it and gave him the correct chocolate tower truffle cake (our fave)!

IMG-20200308-WA0000

On Sunday I had some vacation blues but kept it going by getting in a workout and getting ready for the week. We also filed our taxes on our own for the first time…whaaat?? Major adulting happening over here you guys!

Anyways I really hope you all had a lovely week and that you’re as excited about the weekend as I am! Now that I have run down my vacay week, let me know what your weekend plans are?

I’ll see you sweets on Monday!

Birthday Gifts

Aaand we are back from vacation and back at it at work but I thought it would be fun to share what hubby got me for my birthday.Β He is extremely sweet and thoughtful and attentive and he did a great job with these gifts!

20200305_082837

I adore See’s Candy and I cannot get enough of their chocolatey goodies. Have you guys ever had some good chocolate and then had a butterfinger or something? I’ve done that with See’s and let me tell you-you can taste the quality! I’ll step off my soap box, but B made me a box of my favorite chocolates. They were fantastic!

20200305_082852

I know I wrote a post on some workout leggings I got last year from Old Navy. I talked about how great they were and it didn’t make sense for me to get Lululemon. All that being said B had gotten me a pair of Lululemon’s in 2015 and they are still going strong. The quality is that great. When we stopped into a store I mentioned that I thought a pair of leggings were cute and how nice the color was. Welp, he got them for me and they are so stinkin’ cute!

20200305_084313

The last thing(s) he got me were these perfumes from Dossier. I had seen quite a few ads on my Insta about them. I checked it out and they were supposed to inspirations of higher end perfume but sold at a much lower price point. There was a quiz to take to figure out which perfume is for you. Hubby took this quiz 5 times as me to figure out what they recommended and ended up ordering me Fresh Floral 2, Floral 2, and Oriental 2. You guys know how much I love floral so I was surprised that I enjoyed the Oriental 2 perfume so much. It may be my favorite?!

20200307_151145

I will definitely be doing a little review post on the leggings and perfume in a month or two. Let me know below what you think of any of these items? Have you tried Dossier? What did you think?

Republique Round 2

I think I mentioned in my Saturday Lunch post that we were spending the day in LA because we had a friend’s birthday thing that evening. Well, our friend’s birthday thing was at Republique and ended up being one of my favorite foodie experiences!

Once we arrived we were taken upstairs to a space reserved for the event. We caught up and chatted with our friends and before we knew it food started showing up. It was served family style with course after course and I definitely had to work hard to pace myself.

In true Republique style the service was so incredible and the food was brought out with what seemed like the perfect amount of timing. You had enough time to chat and eat the dish that was brought out before the next one came out.

All these pictures are taken by B, but there are some dishes that were missed. He did a great job of managing to eat, talk, serve our little group, and take pictures! He’s a gem!

We started with oysters…neither the hubs nor I could figure out if this was our first or second time with oysters. I was convinced that it was our second! Either way the oysters were amazing with a squeeze of lemon…

IMG-20200121-WA0004

These crostinis with fish and caviar were a real treat! Crispy, salty, and delicious!

IMG-20200121-WA0010IMG-20200121-WA0001

We had two pasta dishes. One was filled with butternut squash and sweet while the other was a cacio y pepe and much more on the savory side of things.

IMG-20200121-WA0009IMG-20200121-WA0016

These fried potato puffs were so good and I can’t remember what the sauce was, but it was really good.

I think I’ve had duck once before and I am so happy that this was my second duck dish ever because it was so tender and perfectly cooked!

IMG-20200121-WA0020

From what I remember there was a salmon dish and a short rib dish which were both really good. The short rib dish was one of my favorite things we ate, but I have no pictures. In fact the night was a big blur of food and I can’t remember all the other savory things we ate.

There were three desserts and they were all beautiful and delicious and balanced. We don’t have a picture of the first one, but I believe it was a berry sort of situation. The second one that came out was this chocolatey glass of goodness. It had some hints of hazelnut and although looking super chocolatey I don’t remember thinking it was overwhelmingly chocolatey…if that makes sense?

IMG-20200121-WA0014

This last dessert was a pastry boat with caramelized apples (or pears?) and a scoop of soft vanilla ice-cream. The big surprise was that once it was brought out they shaved cheese on top of it. We were all a bit in awe, but once we dug in we were all cheesy grins (sorry, not sorry for the pun)! It was sweet, savory, crispy, creamy, cold and warm-one of my favorite desserts of the night!

IMG-20200121-WA0006

You guys we were there for four hours…FOUR hours and we had no idea! A large part of that was the great company. We had planned on heading home after dinner, but spontaneously decided to head to the next birthday destination-Lucky Strike.

We bowled, played pool, had more snacks, had more cake, and by the time we got home and got ready for bed it was 2:30am…we crashed hard to say the least!

I love food experiences where you get to try a little bit of everything, are you the same? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for coming by!

Birthdays and giving thanks

If you couldn’t tell from my Monday post we have a lot to be thankful for this past year and one thing I am most thankful for is my wonderful husband!

20191026_192035

It is his birthday today and I just want to take a minute to let him know how grateful I am to be his wife. Babe, thank you for being the incredibly kind, generous, and loving person you are. The way you take things in stride and see the brighter side of things-no matter the situation is something I am in awe of.

I know I tell you all the time but you really are the best husband ever and to top it off you are so stinkin’ hot! I love you so much and hope you have the best birthday ever and that this year brings true all your wishes!

Besides birthday wishes I wanted to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. I know I normally do Monday/Thursday posts, but since I’m doing this one today I figured I’d combine the birthday/Thanksgiving. I hope you guys are getting to spend some good quality time with family and eating some delicious food!

I’m not sure if I’m going to be taking pictures of our Thanksgiving, but if I do I will most certainly share that with you!

Happy birthday babe, Happy Thanksgiving my friends, and have a lovely weekend!

birthday week

Hello all!

Thanks for stopping by for another post! Last week was my birthday and it was a fun week with treats and sweets and lots of love ❀️

Hubs got me some gorgeous flowers and my perfect card…I mean c’mon!

20190305_073509

After working out I made myself some breakfast #health

20190305_105240

And then I got more flowers from my in-laws. It was so sweet! I love me some flowers and it’s been so great having these beautiful pops of color everywhere in the house.

20190305_120351

I had to go in for a meeting at work my co-workers Β did a sweet potluck and got me this beautiful and delicious chocolate cake!

20190305_135535

I started my Friday off like any other with a workout, cleanup, and shower. I had a slice of bread with some PB for breakfast.

I kept things pretty chill during the day and when B got home from work we ventured out to do a few errands and grab some dinner. We decided on Poquito Mas-he got a burrito and I got tacos.

We also had some cookies for dessert…more to come on this later πŸ˜‰

20190308_081146

Saturday morning was met with a workout and Chick-fil-a breakfast. We showered quickly to headed out to a painting class. This is B’s painting…he always does such a great job at these things!

20190312_110840

After class we went to find some late lunch. Our initial idea was to head to Fiore for sandwiches, but they were out of bread. I was devastated, but pulled it together to find Monte 52!

We ordered a Red Dragon which we added turkey. It was so yummy with tomato, avocado, red onion, lettuce and lots of mustard and red dragon cheese. I had never heard of it, but it’s cheese with mustard and it definitely brought a punch!

20190309_154720

The other sandwich was a roast beef with horseradish aioli, cheddar cheese, and fried onions. This one had a nice spicy kick, but not too spicy. It was so yummy!

20190309_154735

We headed closer to home and wandered around the mall thinking about our evening plans. We decided to head to a Redbox and finally rent Instant Family. It was such a cute movie-funny and emotional all at the same time.

After such a late lunch it was around 9pm when we decided to head out to dinner. Il Fornaio seemed like a great option. It was close by and open and I had never been!

20190309_210608

Upon being seated we immediately were served warm bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread was fluffy on the inside and crusty on the outside. Bread. Heaven.

20190309_210614

We spotted the Antipasto Di Pesce which was seared ahi tuna, spicy grilled calamari, scallops and shrimp. My favorite was the spicy grilled calamari, but honestly everything on this plate was delicious! It was well cooked and so flavorful!

20190309_212542

For our main we split a dish off their seasonal menu, Trenette all Riminese. It was housemade spinach and egg pasta with shrimp, scallops, crab, tomatoes, shallots, and arugula. I’m usually a tomato based pasta girl, but this was delicious!

20190309_214932

Our sweet server brought us a tiramisu for dessert on her! This is hands down one of the best tiramisu I have ever had. It was light and creamy and oh so dreamy!

20190309_220233

Sunday morning we woke up and I decided against the gym and instead we “hiked” through a hilly neighborhood. A few up and down hills later we found a couple of more sandwiches to eat at The Carving Board.

We had their turkey dinner sandwich. This was a take on a left over Thanksgiving sandwich with stuffing, turkey, gravy, and cranberries. I really enjoyed this and the whole time I was eating it I kept thinking about FRIENDS and that scene with Ross and his turkey sandwich with the moistmaker. Anybody else?

20190310_124209

Surprising for us our other sandwich was also turkey based. It was a cold sandwich with onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, and mayo. This also had cranberries. It was fresh and crunchy and had all the ingredients to a good sandwich!

20190310_124219

We had some grocery shopping to do, but we needed something sweet. From the sandwich shop we walked to Whole Foods and on our way their we spotted Uba Tuba. We had never tried it so we got the super mini dessert portion of their acai bowl. It was the perfect little sweet treat.

We could pick two toppings so hubby got strawbs and nanas. I got bananas and sweet and condensed milk. It came with honey as well! It was light and refreshing and I could totally go for another one right now…

While at WF we spotted these individual yogurt bars. If it looks familiar it’s because we’ve been getting the strawberry and vanilla version of these from Costco. I quite badly wanted to try the hazelnut flavor so we did πŸ™‚

20190310_134415

After roaming around WF and finishing up groceries at Trader Joes we came home and unloaded our goods. We went for another walk and it started raining!

Thankfully it was a short walk and we had thought ahead to wearing hooded jackets so it was okay. We did some Yelping to figure out what we should have for dinner and decided we needed to check out Johnny Pacific again.

We ordered 4 empanadas-2 chicken al pastor and 2 beef tingas and got the chicken skewers which came with rice and salad.

20190310_183722

The beef tingas were our favorite out of the 2 and we really loved the whole meal. The flavors were really great and we will definitely be going back!

20190310_183737

Dessert was leftover cookies! What’s new??

That wraps up my birthday week! If you’ve stuck it out this far…thank you! I usually don’t write blog posts this long, but this one just needed to be done!

I hope you all are having a great week! See you Monday!

Happy Birthday Babe!

I know I normally post Mondays and Thursdays, but I had to switch it up this week to wish hubs a happy, happy birthday!

I know I constantly go on about how I have the BEST husband, but you guys I REALLY do.

I don’t think there has been a single day since we got married that he has not made me laugh or at the very least smile.

There are a million little things he does for me- always makes sure that I get my cup of coffee in the morning no matter where we are in the world, reminds me to take my thyroid meds, when we walk on the sidewalk he always makes sure that I am not on the side the road is, feeds me every two hours even though he would be fine eating once a day, encourages my crazy cravings and on and on.

He is currently at an interview and I am at a Starbucks. He walked me into the Starbucks, got me settled in a nook and set me up with wifi on his iPad before he left. It’s not that I wouldn’t be fine if he just dropped me off, but he ALWAYS goes the extra mile.

I have the best husband in the world because despite my crazy, emotional, hangry moments he loves me.

Babe, I am so glad you were born 28 years ago today! You deserve all the best and I am so excited to celebrate you today because you are not just a great husband. You are a wonderful person-kind, generous, hard working, and not to mention a total hottie 😍!

Happy birthday my love! I love you so much 😚

FabFitFun Unboxing

I love hauls and I love unboxings…what can I say? One of my favorite unboxings to watch/read about is FabFitFun. They have such cool, fun stuff!

The hubs got me a box for my birthday and it was so so awesome to be able to open it all up and see what was inside. I didn’t read the little magazine they have before going through it because I love the surprise factor πŸ™‚

20180302_071619

The box itself is seriously so gorgeous! I loved the colors of this one and even more than that I loved the “Girl Rising” theme.

One of the first items I got my hands on was this beautiful lippie palette. The packaging is sleek and weighty and feels like good quality. I’ve never thought about buying a lip palette, but this one has more than a few colors that I think may work for my skin.

The next item was this body butter from Korres. The smell is fruity and beachy all at once…I’m obsessed! I also love the tube instead of the usual tub that body butter tends to come in.

20180302_073216

This eye mask is super cute and functional! You put it in the fridge and then you can put it on your eyeballs so it depuffs and soothes.

20180302_072639

THIS CLUTCH. OMG. It’s floral and on one side and this gorgeous turmeric yellow on the other. It’s totally reversible and spacious and I can’t wait to use it!

20180302_072351

20180302_072504

I’ve used a few Murad products before including their vitamin C serum, but never a moisturizer. I will have to get into this guy after I get through my current face moisturizer, but I am super excited to try it out πŸ™‚

20180302_073044

These earrings are so lovely and light! I’ve been hesitant to get tassle style earrings because I was worried about how uncomfy and heavy they would be, but these are gorgeous and pretty comfortable!

20180302_072258

I love candles and this one definitely brings major beach vibe smells to the house. I love the coppery holder too. I almost don’t want to light it because so I can savor the scent, but we all know I’m lighting that sucker #immediategratification

I always buy drugstore nail polish bases and top coats so spending $16 on one seems a little far fetched for me, but I am more than happy to use it since I got it in this box. I’m interested to see if it makes a difference. To be fair this is supposed to help healthify your nails not just be a base coat…that may explain the price?!

20180302_072930

We were talking about getting a new foam roller and although this isn’t a foam roller I feel like it’ll do a great job at rolling out all of my sore muscles. We tested it out and we both really like it so far!

20180302_072829

One of the last items is a lovely little sample from Dove. It’s a macadamia nut and rice milk body scrub and I used it immediately (#immediategratification). You guys, this literally smells like cookies and I almost wanted to just take a glob and eat it. It is the most delicious smelling thing ever and the texture isn’t too rough. It’s a good balance where it doesn’t rip your skin off, but it does exfoliate.

20180302_073337

I hope you enjoyed this unboxing as much as I enjoyed unboxing it πŸ™‚ Do you do fabfitfun? What do you think? Let me know in the comments below!

To my partner in life (and food)

Happy birthday to my numero uno for life! I always say it, but it’s true, you are the bestest friend and husband I could ask for. I can’t wait to celebrate your birthday and spoil you like you spoil me everyday!

20160814_093128

Thank you for being my better half babe. I love you further than the moon and back πŸ™‚

XOXO,

Wifey
