Hi Friends! I thought it would be nice to sit down and catch up on stuff that’s been going on recently…hence the title πŸ˜‰

As I am writing this I am not feeling the best-congested, coughing, cold. Basically, a freakin’ delight. We got some manuka honey to help me combat the cough at least so I’ve been chugging that down with my hot lemon water.

20181211_121459

I still workout even though I haven’t posted anything workout related in who knows how long? I’m still working out 4 days a week anywhere from 30-90 minutes depending on how I’m feeling. I’m also still loving weights, machines, cardio, pilates, bands…I think you get the point!

20180820_121549

I’ve been really loving naps! I didn’t think I was a nap person, but there’s nothing quite like napping during the weekend. I’m getting old or maybe reverting back to being 5 years old, either way I’m fine with it as long as I get to nap πŸ˜…

I love snacks, but recently I feel like I live off snacks. I just want a little bit of everything and haven’t been feeling super meal oriented. Sometimes it’s grapes or tomatoes or carrots and other times it’s plantain chips or chocolate pretzels. You know now looking at that nap situation and this snacking situation I am more and more convinced I must be Peter Pan…

20181208_164513

Keeping my makeup simple has been kinda nice. I either wear no make up besides doing my brows a bit or I do some concealer and mascara…very rarely eyeliner and call it good!

How are you guys doing? What’s been going on in your lives?

Face Off (Part 2): Kiehl’s vs Drunk Elephant

In my last post I left off by telling you I decided to try out Drunk Elephant and Kiehl’s face oils. Now, I want to say (again) I wasn’t planning on writing a post about this I just wanted to find ONE face oil that would keep my skin hydrated and brighten it up.

I started that journey with Drunk Elephant’s Marula oil. It claimed to help with fine lines, uneven skin tone, and dry skin. I thought great! I got the 0.5ml size and it lasted me for I think a good 3 months-you don’t need a lot. It was pricey, but if it did something I could have justified the price. For my skin it did nothing…

Which is why I decided to give Kiehl’s a try. This wasn’t my first time trying Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery. I had actually tried out some sample sizes of this oil during my trip to Maui in January. I loved it during that time, but I couldn’t tell if it was the humid conditions in Maui that left my skin glowing or the oil.

I’ve been using Kiehl’s for a couple of weeks. I don’t think that is nearly enough time to be able to tell if something is working for your skin, but this Midnight Recovery Oil has changed my mind on that.

When I wake up my skin just looks better-more hydrated and even. If I go to bed with some redness it will usually be gone by morning. I have had a few zits that I have gone to bed with and woken up to find them completely gone or at least reduced.

I’m also loving the smell. It’s a nice herbal scent. It is pretty strong, but it tends to go away pretty quickly. I think I like because the Tarte Maracuja oil that I used to use smelled like frying oil. I didn’t mind it because at the time it made a difference in my skin, but now having something that smells less like french fries and more like plants has me feeling all kinds of happy.

I never understood why people get upset when someone says they don’t like something you like in the beauty and skin care world. We all have different types of skin and we all have different wants and needs for our skin care. Of course we won’t all like the same thing!Β Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery just worked better at the things I wanted to achieve with my skin care.

That’s why it’s so important to do your own research, read reviews, look at the ingredients in the product because at the end of the day your skin might be way different from your favorite beauty gurus or your besties.

With all that being said let me know what skin care products you’ve been using and loving!

See you lovelies Thursday!

Face Oil Face Off Part 1

I had no intention of writing one post, much less two, about this, but I just couldn’t believe how much of a difference a skin oil could make when it was the right one for your skin, but before I get into that I wanted to share about my skin journey.

Let me start by saying I had pretty good skin as a kid through high school and even college. I had combination skin, but don’t remember ever having any major moments of skin issues or waking up with gnarly zits.

My skin started having breakouts here and there as an adult in my early 20s especially around that time of month. Again no big deal, I would get a pimple now and again, but this is around the time I wanted to put more into my skin care.

I started doing a lot of homemade skin masks and I’m not sure if this made my skin worse or better, but I felt like the more I did the angrier my pimple/zit would get. I decided I needed to keep things simple since my skin seemed to do better with that and narrowed down my skin care regimen.

I chose a Neem and Shea face lotion to help me tackle any dark spots left by acne and since neem is known to be good for acne prone skin I figured it would be a good pick. I also read a lot of reviews and did research on the the ingredients in the product before deciding to give it a go.

20160921_150625

I actually still use this as my morning moisturizer and it still does a great job, but it does smell pretty herbaly.

I was using Tarte’s Maracuja oil at bedtime and that would help calm the inflammation. I actually used it up until a few months ago, I think. I loved the product, but I think after using it for so many years it wasn’t doing anything for my skin anymore.

20160905_140855-1

I did some research on different brands and some were pricier than others with all sorts of claims to do all sorts of wonderful things for your skin. I read reviews and figured out what I was looking for in a skin oil.

I was torn between Sunday Riley’s Luna, Drunk Elephant’s Marula, and Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery.

I ended up deciding to try out the Drunk Elephant’s Marula oil and Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery and that is where I will leave you for today.

Catch up with me on Monday to find out which face oil won the face off for me!

See you then!

What I Do…

Good morning friends! I wanted to name this post What I Do When I am Broken Down, Exhausted, and Need Some TLC, but I did not because that is one long title and nobody got time for that πŸ˜‰

20180627_070923

But here is what I do when I am all of those things and feel like a pile of poop.

I let myself linger over coffee. Coffee is one of the first things I do in the morning, but most mornings I am taking it down like someone is going to snatch my cup away. When I’m off from work and I have no where to be I take my sweet time…

After the coffee I workout. At the gym or at home I get my heart rate up and enjoy the endorphins. It’s not always jumping around and squats. When I feel super beat I just stretch myself out and enjoy warming up my muscles.

20180820_121549

I take the time to make myself some yummy, wholesome, nutritious meals. Not that I don’t have nutrient dense meals at work, but I always feel rushed. When I eat at work it’s for energy and sustenance. When I get to cook and eat at home it’s for those things, but enjoyment as well.

20180817_095315

I take the time to clean up my act. I love cleaning up my brows or doing a face mask. Basically, anything that makes me feel like a human again.

This may go into that previous category, but I love doing my nails. There is something soothing about prepping and painting them. I also like that every time I look and see my nails it makes me happy to see the color.

20180720_173334

I also enjoy watching YouTube. I binge on a lot of it throughout the day while I am cooking, working out, doing my nails, etc. I like having some background noise and sometimes I learn a thing or two whether it’s about cooking, beauty, health or just find some inspiration.

What do you guys do when you need a pick me up? Let me know in the comments!

Loving, into, obsessed-My favorites

Honestly, whatever you wanna call it, it’s basically a favorites. I’ve been kinda loving a lot lately and it all makes me happy as anything!

This NYX Slip Tease in the shade Rosy Outlook is so beautiful and glossy. I’ve been loving glossier lips and this is an incredible color. I ate with this on and even though it did come off it didn’t come off patchy and awful. It kinda just looked faded or rubbed off, but evenly. Does that make sense?

20180717_144646

When it was still fresh and unopened…

I’ve been loving doing my nails again and find it pretty therapeutic. This hot pink color from Sally Hansen has been brightening up my hands and feet!

20180720_173216

This play-suit that this picture is doing no justice for. It’s the most gorgeous, vivid green and it fits amazingly. It’s light and easy to throw on for when you want to look nice, but don’t have the time, energy, or effort to put in πŸ™‚

20180717_145022

I found these earrings at Aldo and needed them because I needed a few more everyday pairs and I like shiny things!

20180717_145502

20180717_150057

The missing pair are these golden bubbly studs!

This basic white t-shirt that is made not so basic with the cactus coming out of the pocket was too cute to not have.

20180717_145837

Another polish I’ve been really into is this turmeric yellow shade from OPI. I found this at TJ Maxx and couldn’t resist it.

20180720_173334

These shorts were on sale at H&M and they are so nice! I love that you can tie them up to really accentuate your waist and what more-they have butterflies on them!!

20180717_145743

Speaking of glossy lips, this lipstick by Revlon in the shade Wine with Everything #520 is beautiful. It gives you subtle, pearly shine and a good wash of color. It’s not super pigmented, but it’s great for a everyday no mess, no fuss type of situation.

20180717_144827

I LOVE this dress. It’s navy and floral and who isn’t digging the floral situation this summer? It’s just lovely to look at and even better on!

20180717_145247

There are so many other things, but I will cap it off at that for now! Next Friday, I’m thinking about doing a food favorites type of situation. Let me know what you think!

What are some things you are into lately?

An update and review

I don’t know if you guys remember my FabFitFun unboxing, but in that box contained a base coat. I think it was priced at $16 and it just seemed a little pricey.

20180302_072930

Since then I have tried the polish many a time underneath my own polishes. Here’s what I have found:

1. It looks really pretty on your nails all on it’s own. It’s shiny and smooth and makes your nails look perfect and healthy.

2. That being said-I think it does actually help keep your nails strong. I’ve always noticed that after I put polish on my nails peel and break easily, but with this my nails stay healthy.

3. Thing three is that it actually extends the life of my polish. I had this Essie polish that I loved the color of, but it would chip so quickly! With this as the base coat it lasts for a good four days at the least before chipping.

20171203_082549

I really have loved this polish and when you think about it how many bottles of polish do we actually get through? I feel like they last forever so maybe $16 isn’t that crazy? I don’t know…what do you guys think?!

Let’s Talk Collagen

I recently decided to do a thing. I decided to start taking collagen…

20180512_110516

I feel like collagen has been everywhere recently kinda like coconut oil had been and after doing some research I thought it would be a good supplement to include in my diet. Let me tell you why!

1.I can almost guarantee I am not getting enough from food sources. I don’t drink bone broth, eat enough meat, or gelatin to help me in any way.

2.Collagen is great for bone strength. Again I don’t drink milk (dairy) and I have a small frame and my momma has osteopenia-this girl doesn’t have time for that low bone density life.

3.I love skin care, but I don’t want to use 30 products to “stop the aging process.” Collagen can help with fine lines and helps keep your skin youthful.

4.Along with skin benefits it is great for nails and hair. I feel like I’ve been shedding like nobody’s business so maybe this will help!

5.I have cellulite-it’s an annoying part of womanhood, but what can you do? Take some collagen apparently πŸ™‚

Now, this is why I started taking collagen, but we will see if it’s effective. I just started taking it, but I can keep you guys posted on if I notice any changes.

The one that I take is the one pictured above and it says you can mix it with water or OJ. I highly suggest you do NOT mix it with water-I tried and it was gross.

The OJ suggestion is because apparently Vitamin C helps with the absorption of collagen.Β The way I have been using it is by mixing it in with my morning coffee. It becomes tasteless and all I can taste is my delicious cup of joe.

Have you guys used collagen? What do you think? Have you seen any improvements?

Friday Faves

Hello sweet people!

Are you guys as ready for the weekend as I am? I am super ready, but before the weekend starts I thought I would bring you a few things I have kinda been liking hard.

This was a gift from the hubs parents when they visited us back in January and I just love it. I have super tiny wrists which make bracelets and watches hard to find and I just never like they way they look. This one has this beautiful gold and the strap is a lovely tan leather. I think it’s so pretty!

20180409_111605

You guys know the hubs gifted me with a Fab Fit Fun box for my birthday and it had this face cream in it. I honestly have been loving it! I have combination skin (normal on the parameter of my face and oily t-zone), but I don’t like matte anything. This is a light-weight lotion that does a great job at moisturizing and leaving my face with a lovely glowy finish.

20180409_111801

Easter is over and done, but I found this bowl and spoon and couldn’t help but buy it. I mean it is light pink and has ears and whiskers-how could I not buy it?? It’s supposed to be a dip bowl, but I will probably use it for cereal or ice-cream or something else.

20180409_110343

My last favorite is this make up mirror we had bought from Costco a few months ago. I wasn’t completely sold on it, but I can now say I am a fan. It’s really handy when both hubs and I need to shower because I can shower and do my makeup in the bedroom instead of hogging up the bathroom with makeup time.

20180409_111707

I know I always ask, but what have you lovelies been loving? Let me know in the comments below πŸ™‚

FabFitFun Unboxing

I love hauls and I love unboxings…what can I say? One of my favorite unboxings to watch/read about is FabFitFun. They have such cool, fun stuff!

The hubs got me a box for my birthday and it was so so awesome to be able to open it all up and see what was inside. I didn’t read the little magazine they have before going through it because I love the surprise factor πŸ™‚

20180302_071619

The box itself is seriously so gorgeous! I loved the colors of this one and even more than that I loved the “Girl Rising” theme.

One of the first items I got my hands on was this beautiful lippie palette. The packaging is sleek and weighty and feels like good quality. I’ve never thought about buying a lip palette, but this one has more than a few colors that I think may work for my skin.

The next item was this body butter from Korres. The smell is fruity and beachy all at once…I’m obsessed! I also love the tube instead of the usual tub that body butter tends to come in.

20180302_073216

This eye mask is super cute and functional! You put it in the fridge and then you can put it on your eyeballs so it depuffs and soothes.

20180302_072639

THIS CLUTCH. OMG. It’s floral and on one side and this gorgeous turmeric yellow on the other. It’s totally reversible and spacious and I can’t wait to use it!

20180302_072351

20180302_072504

I’ve used a few Murad products before including their vitamin C serum, but never a moisturizer. I will have to get into this guy after I get through my current face moisturizer, but I am super excited to try it out πŸ™‚

20180302_073044

These earrings are so lovely and light! I’ve been hesitant to get tassle style earrings because I was worried about how uncomfy and heavy they would be, but these are gorgeous and pretty comfortable!

20180302_072258

I love candles and this one definitely brings major beach vibe smells to the house. I love the coppery holder too. I almost don’t want to light it because so I can savor the scent, but we all know I’m lighting that sucker #immediategratification

I always buy drugstore nail polish bases and top coats so spending $16 on one seems a little far fetched for me, but I am more than happy to use it since I got it in this box. I’m interested to see if it makes a difference. To be fair this is supposed to help healthify your nails not just be a base coat…that may explain the price?!

20180302_072930

We were talking about getting a new foam roller and although this isn’t a foam roller I feel like it’ll do a great job at rolling out all of my sore muscles. We tested it out and we both really like it so far!

20180302_072829

One of the last items is a lovely little sample from Dove. It’s a macadamia nut and rice milk body scrub and I used it immediately (#immediategratification). You guys, this literally smells like cookies and I almost wanted to just take a glob and eat it. It is the most delicious smelling thing ever and the texture isn’t too rough. It’s a good balance where it doesn’t rip your skin off, but it does exfoliate.

20180302_073337

I hope you enjoyed this unboxing as much as I enjoyed unboxing it πŸ™‚ Do you do fabfitfun? What do you think? Let me know in the comments below!

Body Shop Haul

Yes ANOTHER haul, but let me explain!

California is DRY and I HATE dry skin. It’s tight and itchy and ashy and uncomfortable. It’s not my cup of jo! So when I saw that Body Shop was having a 50% off everything sale and Ebates was doing 8% back-I rejoiced and bought some body butters πŸ˜€

20171219_114552-1

I love Body Shop body butters because they do such a great job of moisturizing, but they also leave your skin smelling so. freaking. good.

I’ve shown this in a previous favorites, but this Vitamin E one is thick and extremely hydrating. Great for when you are right outta the shower!

20171219_115443

I’m a big fan of traveling with these as well since airplanes also leave my skin feeling parched so I bought a few travel size. These two from the spa collection are new to me, but both smell amazing!

Hawaiian Kukui Cream

20171219_115415

Japanese Camellia

20171219_120851-1

I’ve had a travel size of the British Rose just to test out, but since I loved it so much I got a regular tub. I love rose scented things and this scent just lingers on your skin and it really does leave your skin glowy and gorgeous!

20171219_120110

The Moringa cream is light and sinks in and would actually be perfect for summer months so I think this will be saved for any summer travels that come our way.

20171219_120221

The Shea is rich and hydrating and is great if you like sweeter scents as opposed to floral-y type scents.

20171219_115741

I adore all of them! Do you have a Body Shop favorite or do you use body butters/creams/moisturizers from elsewhere? Let me know in the comments below!
