Welcome to my blog! I am a 26-year-old nutrition, fitness, and food enthusiast who also happens to be a daughter, sister, wife, friend and nurse.
I’m not sure where to start so I guess the beginning will do. I was born in India and came to the United States when I was 4 years old. I grew up in a traditional Indian household – I had two loving parents and an older brother (who, at the time, I believed existed solely to torture me). During my younger years I wasn’t much of a food enthusiast, you’d think I was with my chubby cheeks. Thankfully, I grew out of that. We had a LOT of Indian food growing up because that’s what mom cooked. I ate because, well, my parents made me. Personally, I felt I could have been doing better things, like painting or playing tag.
I grew up and went to college. I didn’t have many issues figuring out what I wanted to do with my life since I knew at a pretty young age. I have always been a people person; actually that’s kind of a lie. I do believe I went through a shy phase when I was young, but I got through that pretty quickly. I love meeting people, talking to them and hearing their stories. I also felt like I wanted to play a part in taking care of them when they weren’t feeling their best. I decided at the tender age of 9 I was going to be a nurse. I also had aspirations to be a power ranger (the pink one), but that didn’t pan out.
Back to present day or I guess a few months ago when I had been living in Oklahoma. I got engaged then married to the love of my life (all within 11 short days, mind you). He is the whole package. He’s handsome and funny, smart and sweet. Honestly, I have no idea how I got so lucky! The hubby (I still love saying that!) got a job in California so we packed up all of our things and moved out to the Golden State. Neither of us had ever lived farther than 30 minutes away from our families. The move was hard at the beginning, but we were also very excited to start our journey as a married couple!
We were also highly enthused for the sunshine and food. We are both big foodies. We enjoy food, maybe a little much at times! Since getting here we have had a chance to explore the food scene and we’ve had some pretty big hits and some misses. We (thankfully for our waistlines) both love being active so it’s been fun to walk around and explore the beaches and museums. We’re also pumped to find places to hike and any suggestions will be appreciated!
I think that brings us to this blog and its contents. I want to use this space to share with you our life. Food and fitness play big parts in it. Don’t get me wrong; it’s not about weight or being a certain size. It’s about being healthy and fit. I have learned a lot from reading, my gym-loving husband, and just by listening to my body. I want to share my journey with you! I hope this is a space we can share and learn together. Grab a cup of tea and let’s get to it!
