Sooo….I think I left off with our last day in Philly! We woke up the next morning pretty exhausted, but gathered ourselves and our things and left for the Amtrak to NY. We arrived a couple of hours later and decided to get an unlimited Metro Pass for a week. We had decided it would not be a good idea to do a rental car and would be much easier to get around through public transportation-which ended up being very true!
We got our passes and came out at Madison Square! We decided to stop and grab some pizza before heading to our AirBnB in Brooklyn. We lugged our luggage around the crowded city in hunt for our first NY slice. We found Joe’s and grabbed a few slices…nothing like eating a slice in the fresh NY air!
Knowing us you know we looked up desserts and found that donut place we wanted to try-Dough-was just a little ways off. We obvi decided the right thing to do was to head on over and get a few 🙂
Honestly, by the time we did all this we were pretty much done carrying around our stuff and were ready to unload. We hopped on a subway station, took a little stroll, and arrived at our home for the next few days.
After taking a minute to chill and somewhat organize ourselves we headed back out to explore. B was born and lived in Brooklyn for a while in his young life so he wanted to go check out his neighborhood, school, stores, parks, and such we headed that way.
It was really sweet to see where he grew up and and hear his stories about growing up there. We took some pics to send to his fam and finally decided to find some dinner!
We found Taci’s Beyti Turkish Restaurant-YOU GUYS! Holy cow! The service was SO BAD here, but the food was delicious. I don’t even want to get into the service, but we were in tears laughing at how terrible it was.
They brought us some bread which was warm and so yummy!
We ordered a pastrami hummus platter to start…
And their lamb kebabs for our main. We were able to comfortably share both of these and were both stuffed! I couldn’t even think of dessert…who am I?
We caught a bus back home and watched some television until we couldn’t keep our eyes open. That concludes our first night in NY! I’m hoping to get the rest of the posts scheduled soon so fingers crossed!
Have you ever been to Brooklyn? What did you think?
