Sushi Date Night

It’s been a minute since we’ve had a proper date night so we decided that we were long overdue! We picked Maru Sushi Bar simply because they had 4.5 stars and great reviews on Yelp.

We ordered a few of their different specialty rolls and enjoyed all of them! The only one I was a little iffy on was the roll topped with eel and avocado, but even that was good. I enjoy spicier, more savory flavors and tend not to like sweeter teriyaki type sauces so that may have something to do with it.

This Oh! Baby Roll was our favorite roll of the night I think. It was different and I loved that it was spicy crab and scallop mix, avocado, and sprouts wrapped in a piece of tuna. Craving this all over again!

The quality of the fish could be noticed in the sashimi we ordered. The tuna with the roasted brussels sprout was surprising and odd. I believe the other was yellowtail with jalapeΓ±o and cilantro. The yellowtail was my favorite out of the two.

We also got a tuna rice cake which is unpictured, but we both LOVED. The crispy texture of the rice really did a great job contrasting with the avocado and spicy tuna.

We will definitely be going back at some point to try out more of their rolls!

I had made brownies and added in some Reese’s PB cups for dessert. I had thought ahead and bought vanilla ice-cream to top it off πŸ™‚

We ended our night nice and cozy with our brownie creation and some Narcos Mexico…pretty darn perfect!

What’s your favorite type of sushi roll? Or are you a sashimi person? Have you seen Narcos? Let’s chat in the comments πŸ™‚

Oh yum yum YUM! I have been craving sushi cause I haven’t had it in way too long. My mom and I usually grab it together in Texas together, so maybe in about a week we can have a sushi date when I visit! My favorite are actually unagi or spicy tuna rolls- but I’m not picky- they’re all tasty to me!! Oh, and that brownie- goood lawd, that looks yummy. (& gotta have the vanilla ice cream — good thinking!). Thanks for sharing such a yummy meal with us, guuurl

Oh my gosh, Jess!!! I am dying to have sushi again lol. I am more into the spicy and savory over sweet, too but I do like the plain eel nigiri sometimes. All of this looks so high-quality and delicious. Yellow tail sashimi with cilantro & jalapeno is my absolute favorite!! & those brownies look out of this world… with reese’s PB cups inside??! Oooh man!!!

I’ve never seen Narcos before! Is it a crime show?

That yellowtail was so good! All of the rolls were super good and the quality was awesome!
Narcos is a crime show! I highly recommend it…start with season 1. It is based on true events, but the details are a little exaggerated for dramatic effect. I’m usually a rom-com and/or comedy type person but this was neither of those and we binge watched the whole first season!
